SOLVED. irish book series [s]

I'm trying to find a book series that I read a while ago. I remember the first book is a historical love story. The husband is arrested. They have 3 girls. There is a sister, who is a nun. ONE of the books is about her, the child she gave away when she was young, and the father of the child that stays on at the abbey just to be close to the nun. I think it is irish and there was a beach involved. Can you help with the name of the series/author?
