Fairly sure your story is "The Candidate" by Henry Slesar; it's probably appeared in several anthologies, but the one I have is Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Stories That Scared Even Me. You can search on YouTube and find a reading, and it also seems to be archived on reddit.com in short fiction.

Hi Kris, I am sorry, but I really can't remember. I read it more than 20 years ago I believe, and my memory is terrible. But if I`d to guess, I would say I read it on Spells or Alfred Hitchcoks' Stories that scared even me.

The book I read was in Brazilian Portuguese, but I am pretty sure the original was in English.
The story is about two men talking. One of them is introducing the other to a secret society that uses mind power to target and kill chosen victims.

But at the end, the one who is telling about the society discloses that for it to work, the victim must be aware of the order and that he is being targeted, which is the case of the second man.
I'm desperate to find the name and author of this short story, but can not remember its name, nor the book. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
