opinions on spine cracking and folding the corner of pages??

personally i love a good cracked spine and have been guilty of folding a fair few pages but most of my book friends say i should be locked up for it. where’s your stand point? <3

I like the cracking but I don’t like the results.... I also love bookmarks
i always crack the spines, also makes the book easier to read, i never fold pages but i love when books look used :)

I do both, HOW people read a book without folding the spine i don't know, and folding pages is an unhealthy habit ...

not a fan myself but books hold personal emotions and are a thing of comfort therefore it depends on the owner

the first time i read a book, i try to keep it nice and pretty, but whats the point of having a book that looks like you've never touched it? and books are for reading, not decoration.
Cracking the spine is understandable but folding the pages is a hard no for me!

Folding pages is a crime. Any damage to a book is a crime. I have been trying to prevent cracking the spines of my books
I always fold pages and I crack spines, I know it sounds like blasphemy but I don’t really care for maintaining a book looking perfect- I prefer them to look well read 🫢
I do both 😂 not always folding down a corner but it’s just so convenient sometimes

I crack my spins learned my lesson not cracking Say You Swear but I never fold corners
I crack the spines naturally if i'm reading but FOLDING THE CORNORS is BLASPHEMY, and i will maintain that till the day i die.
books are way too expensive in my country to be cracking the spines. they're worth a kidney istg

I mostly use eBooks now. But when I had physical books I preferred bookmarks. Also not a fan of cracking the spines of books

I accidentally crack the spines. I don't mind as much as long as there's nothing ON the spine, but when there is, it makes the book look old and defeated :'( Honestly, I fold library book pages sometimes (👀) but I never do it to my own, like, I'll literally use a hair tie until I can find a scrap of paper if I don't have a bookmark.

I don't actively try to crack my spines but it happens every once in a while. This is where I go to jail... if I'm reading a paperback I'm folding the corners. I don't care. I love my books but I read to enjoy.

I don’t do either. I don’t read or hold a book in a way where the spin needs too be cracked. And I always have a bookmark bc B&N always gives me one with every purchase so I’m set.

i’ll occasionally crack a spine, but won’t fold page corners. However, it doesn’t bother me when others do either of these. Books are meant to be used and enjoyed by whoever is reading it. 🫶

I do both, crack the spine so its easier to read and dog ear the pages beacause im afraid a bookmark would slide out of the book when it's in my bag.
Well heyhey i’m that person who compares, and picks the most perfect conditioned book whenever she buys a new one, and i will always am. 😂 but along the run a cracked spines on big books is unavoidable no matter how much i been careful, so i learnt to welcome it just alright, but folding paper deffo a no 👀

I loveee cracking the spine but it breaks my heart a lil when I see the creases but then again i think it makes it look like used and loved!! but page folding is a nono but it's yr book so don't let anyone shame u for doing any of these things

no to folding pages but i love the way the book is when i crack the spine just not the look of it
i crack the spine, fold the corners, fold over the cover, bend the book, i just think it shows it’s been well loved and as long as it’s being read, then do what you like with the book
