camille | 27 comments personally i love a good cracked spine and have been guilty of folding a fair few pages but most of my book friends say i should be locked up for it. where’s your stand point? <3

krys ~♡~ (scarlett's version) (kryssbookdiary) I'm concerned about everyone saying "yes" to spine cracking. NO, no to spine cracking and page folding

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I do both, HOW people read a book without folding the spine i don't know, and folding pages is an unhealthy habit ...

message 10: by faye (new)

faye | 232 comments yes to both!! shows that you read and enjoyed the book

message 11: by Anushka (new)

Anushka Mukherjee ♡ (anushkamkjbooks) | 99 comments not a fan myself but books hold personal emotions and are a thing of comfort therefore it depends on the owner

Hestia | 14 comments yes to both. I love books that look used and kinda ugly

Gefen❤️ | 67 comments ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING

message 15: by (new)

❀ the first time i read a book, i try to keep it nice and pretty, but whats the point of having a book that looks like you've never touched it? and books are for reading, not decoration.

message 16: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 4 comments Cracking the spine is understandable but folding the pages is a hard no for me!

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

it’s a crime. i definitely can’t with either of those 😭

Grace ♡ | 30 comments cracking the spine i *try* to avoid but it happens but PAPER FOLDING? hell naw

message 19: by Amari (new)

Amari (abookwormseden) | 122 comments Folding pages is a crime. Any damage to a book is a crime. I have been trying to prevent cracking the spines of my books

message 20: by Live2009 (new)

Live2009 | 99 comments Same. I totally agree

message 21: by Abby (new)

Abby | 70 comments I always fold pages and I crack spines, I know it sounds like blasphemy but I don’t really care for maintaining a book looking perfect- I prefer them to look well read 🫢

message 22: by graces_book_nook (new)

graces_book_nook | 7 comments I do both 😂 not always folding down a corner but it’s just so convenient sometimes

message 23: by kate (new)

kate | 9 comments if i have to ill crack the spine, but i always relax it first :)

ItsMalv | 4 comments I think they add character. Your book, your choice

message 30: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 163 comments I mostly use eBooks now. But when I had physical books I preferred bookmarks. Also not a fan of cracking the spines of books

message 31: by ids (new)

ids (shakespearesass) | 13 comments Jamie :) wrote: "it’s a crime. i definitely can’t with either of those 😭"

I completely agree. It physically hurt me to see how many people on here are talking about cracking spines. Nobody's allowed to hurt my babies (books) like that.

message 32: by Gia (new)

Gia | 170 comments I accidentally crack the spines. I don't mind as much as long as there's nothing ON the spine, but when there is, it makes the book look old and defeated :'(
Honestly, I fold library book pages sometimes (👀) but I never do it to my own, like, I'll literally use a hair tie until I can find a scrap of paper if I don't have a bookmark.

message 33: by ✶Nanna✶ (new)

✶Nanna✶ I dont mind a cracked spine but NO folding the pages :)

message 34: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 17 comments I don't actively try to crack my spines but it happens every once in a while. This is where I go to jail... if I'm reading a paperback I'm folding the corners. I don't care. I love my books but I read to enjoy.

⛤☽Ava☾⛤(Taylor’s version) | 10 comments Both of them are crimes

message 36: by Tayjah (new)

Tayjah I don’t do either. I don’t read or hold a book in a way where the spin needs too be cracked. And I always have a bookmark bc B&N always gives me one with every purchase so I’m set.

message 37: by Mary ♥ (new)

Mary ♥ | 207 comments No to both! I like my books pristine 💖

message 38: by C. (new)

C. (venicebtch) | 5 comments nope nope nope

message 39: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 8 comments i’ll occasionally crack a spine, but won’t fold page corners. However, it doesn’t bother me when others do either of these. Books are meant to be used and enjoyed by whoever is reading it. 🫶

message 40: by Amyah (new)

Amyah | 40 comments I’ll crack the spine but I hate the dog eared corners, they just piss me off.

message 41: by Elin (new)

Elin | 28 comments I do both, crack the spine so its easier to read and dog ear the pages beacause im afraid a bookmark would slide out of the book when it's in my bag.

message 42: by Noa (new)

Noa | 103 comments Well heyhey i’m that person who compares, and picks the most perfect conditioned book whenever she buys a new one, and i will always am. 😂 but along the run a cracked spines on big books is unavoidable no matter how much i been careful, so i learnt to welcome it just alright, but folding paper deffo a no 👀

message 43: by alysh (new)

alysh (katsanaslibrary) | 80 comments i do both! i like when my books look used!! :)

message 44: by jasmin (new)

jasmin | 170 comments I loveee cracking the spine but it breaks my heart a lil when I see the creases but then again i think it makes it look like used and loved!! but page folding is a nono but it's yr book so don't let anyone shame u for doing any of these things

message 45: by Arabella (new)

Arabella Collins (aribellibug) | 28 comments I don't mind a cracked spine, but I won't do it on purpose. Also will never fold page corners because it bothers me to look at it

♡︎ Kura ♡︎ (nesta’s version) | 41 comments Yes to both of them! I love doing it, I love the way it makes my books look.

message 50: by emily (new)

emily | 0 comments i crack the spine, fold the corners, fold over the cover, bend the book, i just think it shows it’s been well loved and as long as it’s being read, then do what you like with the book
