The Taming of a Highlander (Midnight in Scotland, #2) by Elisa Braden
The Taming of a Highlander by Elisa Braden

Join us in reading this HR that features the theme Disabled Lead Character. Happy reading!

Synopsis:

A Scot on fire

Wrongfully imprisoned and tortured by an unseen enemy, Broderick MacPherson lives for one purpose—punishing the villain who targeted him. But when a wayward English lass interrupts his revenge, he loses his enemy in the dark. Now, her compelled testimony could send Broderick back to the prison that nearly killed him. Unless they find a loophole—an inconvenient, shockingly tempting loophole.

A beauty under pressure

For Kate Huxley, visiting her brother in the Scottish Highlands is a blissful escape from the stifling expectations of the marriage mart. Blissful, that is, until a scarred, beastly Highlander with a heartbreaking past frightens her out of her wits, making her a witness in a criminal inquiry.

A match to light the darkness

Kate has no wish to testify against a man who’s already suffered too much. But the only remedy is to become his wife. And she can’t possibly marry such a surly, damaged man… can she? Well, perhaps. If it means she can stay in her beloved Scotland. And if he promises they’ll never fall in love.

Lauren | 1370 comments I'm looking forward to this book! I guess I'll have to finish the first book

Maureen | 183 comments I just finished listening to the audio version which I borrowed on Hoopla through the library. It was my first Elisa Braden novel. It was a drama with a mystery but not very much romance. There were a lot of “ one month later” phrases at the beginning of the tale. I gave it three stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lauren | 1370 comments First EB book? I adore her books, but they aren't for everybody. I haven't read this book yet. You should try her ruined series.

Mariana | 2692 comments Maureen, great job finishing the first three June BOTM so quickly! I skipped 1, finished 3, and am just now about to start this one.

Lauren | 1370 comments Could this be read as a standalone?

message 8: by Mariana (new)

Mariana | 2692 comments I did not read any preceding book and am following well - no confusion. I would say yes.

I am enjoying very well. Elisa Braden seems to have a similar sense of humor to Lyndsay Sands but covers dark topics I would expect of Kerrigan Byrne.
