SOLVED. YA/Adult Romance. FMC is hiding under a dock at a lake & over hears MMC brothers/friends making fun of her weight.

I believe it’s pretty recent (less than a year -2 years old). As a young girl, FMC goes to work with her mom (nanny or housekeeper to a family) in a rural area. She’s “secret” friends with one of the boys (MMC) her mom works for. They sometimes meet up at a water tower and just talk. I think her mom takes a different job but the FMC is able to still go to that house and spend the summer there.

She still has a secret friendship with the MMC. FMC is supposed to go to school with the MMC but the summer before, the brothers/fiends of the MMC make fun of her near the lake and she’s under the dock and overhears there nasty comments. MMC is there with them but he’s silent. FMC decides not to go to school with him the following year. This last scene causes the start of an eating disorder for FMC.

Fast forward to college years (I think) I want to say the MMC helps her grandfather with his farmhouse while on summer break and the MCs meet again. Even though the FMC has a boyfriend, the MCs sleep together and it results in a pregnancy. Can’t really remember the rest. Not sure if it’s one book or a duet. Seems like it has a lot of twists and turns for one book. 🤣
