When you mark only one book as invalid that's combined with others (the others are valid.) do you have to separate from the rest of editions or it's ok to mark it invalid while it's combined with other editions?

It is ok to mark it invalid when it is combined.

seems to depend.
I had it once that because of a thread I had to mark the default edition invalid (not valid one) but it stayed showing up in the series (and author complained).
Hadn't that happened ever before so not sure if that was a one time issue or if in combination with series and default edition there might be an issue.
As I don't come across that specific combination often I could not check that further - but thought I would mention.
