Can't check how many tags because GR is being a pain and there aren't a lot of tags so the easy "show all" button isn't there. All my other short cuts are currently being refused by GR ;-)
If this doesn't work however, I'll pick something else!I have a few British Library Crime Classics lying around and some of those books have a cozy tag.

Murder & The Money Pit, Renee George – 5/12/23 – ✮✮✮✮✰
Review — This is such a fun series and I love the quirkiness of the characters and, of course, Smooshie! Who doesn’t love a crazy pit bull and her murder-magnet owner?! I’m looking forward to seeing how things progress after the end of this one.
hey there! hope your week is going well...I’m checking in to say that tracking is current through this post...if I missed anything, let me know. 😊

So this story started out pretty good. The world building was on point, character descriptions were excellent… everything was set for a great read. But then it just fell off. The plot itself is solid, but the flow became so choppy. It jumped around so much I got virtual whiplash. It’s like the story was running too long so they needed to rush it to get to the conclusion in a certain number of pages, or to meet a deadline. I’d have happily read more pages if it meant getting a better flowing story. I’m intrigued by the plot though so that’s the only thing that’s keeping me going with the remainder of this series. Here’s hoping the rest of the books don’t have more of that otherwise I may have to stop at book 2. 🤞🏾
Don't forget to add the actual shelf name to your completion posts ladies.Selection posts don't count.

Book: Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames
Date Read: 16th May 2023
Pages: 544
Rating: 5 stars
How it fits: on the SOS bookshelf
Review:
Such an enjoyable read! There are a lot of references between mercenary bands and actual rock bands, which made it quite fun to see the parallels. And then the humour! There were so many times where I unexpectedly started laughing out loud! Despite a lot of running around and travelling, the story didn't get boring, because there was always (inter)action that made it all fun to read.
I have a couple I want to read for this shelf, so I'll pick one once I've finished at least one of the other two shelves :-)
For this shelf I’ll be reading:
Speak of the Demon by Stacia Stark
Pages: 352
(Found on Fae shelf. Shelved 27 times as fae.)
Completion PostShelf 2 — May Day (author’s name begins with ‘D’)
Darkest Flame, Donna Grant – 5/18/23 – ✮✮✮✮✰
Review — A good start to a new series set in the Dark World. This book starts to build the foundation for the battles ahead for the Dragon Kings. However, Kellan is not my favorite King. He’s so self-absorbed he almost loses everything. Ms. Grant did a great job building the story so that he was able to redeem himself (sort of) by the end. For her part, Denae is a rock star! An American MI-5 agent, she is betrayed and has to fight for her own survival to get through this new world that includes dragons and fae. She has an innocence to her for a spy, but is still formidable, even butting heads with the Dragon Kings.
Completion PostShelf 4 — Fae
Fire Rising, Donna Grant – 5/21/23 – ✮✮✮✮✰
Review — This installment brought the Warriors back into the fold! It was so nice to catch up with some of them and learn more about Tristan, the newest Dragon King. However, Sammie drove me nuts and I wanted to smack her upside the head for most of the book. I’m looking forward to meeting more Kings!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I love a strong heroine who’s capable of holding her own. I also love when sass and sarcasm is her language of choice. This book has that in SPADES! It’s also awesome when the male lead doesn’t treat the FMC like some fragile thing (even though he just wants to wrap her up and keep her safe).
This was very well written with fully fleshed characters, excellent world building and LOADS of action and tension. I’m super excited to see how Danica deals with her new reality.
This was a new author for me, but I’ll definitely be finishing this series and picking up some of her other works. I’m loving it so far.

Review:
Eh.. this kind of cozy mystery isn't really for me. I found the main character to be rather judgmental and opinionated, maybe a tad self-centered at times despite wanting to do everything to please others. It was a little weird and made reading the story something of a nuisance. The mystery was solved in a rather odd and very speedy way all of a sudden, and only the amateur "detective" had all the good ideas. But at least the police wasn't described like complete dunces in this one, so I guess that was a plus.
I have a few Fae books in mind, some big ones, others not quite so big. Since the next shelf call is imminent, I'll wait on deciding which one I'll pick based on this shelf call - to avoid choosing two doorstops ;-)
Shelf #5 ~ 25 May: Beware of BearsDIRECT LINK(s): character who is a bear shifter; “Beware” or "Bear" in title; author's first or last name beginning with B
This one took a while for me to make a decision, but I’ll be going with book 2 from my shelf 2 pick:
Pages: 497
(Bear in the title)

Beware the Bears
Book: Forged by Benedict Jacka
Pages: 312
How it fits: author's first name starts with B
I'm thinking of picking up
for the Fae shelf but am undecided as of yet because it's almost 1k pages and I don't know yet what my next book club read will be. I'll know that on Wednesday evening. In time for the next shelf call almost.I'll have my May Day book finished by Monday evening hopefully and then I'll dive into Alex Verus - though I'm a little reluctant... it's the second to last book :-(
hey all...sorry for going MIA! husband is in the hospital and I've had other real-life issues nipping at me...I should be back online tomorrow or Wednesday.

Coen, Sawyer Bennett – X/X/23 – ✮✮✮✮✰
Review — Coen has been an important sub character in previous installments, which provided the foundation for his story. As one of the three original Titans that did not board the doomed team plane, Coen carries more than survivor’s guilt. His time in a small rural town gives him the time and space he needs to work through his demons. Tillie has her own struggles, but is not weighed down by grief like Coen is. She has a fun personality and strong conviction that eventually helps Coen to heal. These two together are fun, silly, and smoking! I see Coen as having more work to do before he finds true peace, but he’s off to a great start by the end of the book.

Review:
It took me a while to get into this one, not just because it's been a while since I read a book in French but because of the writing style. There were a few lengths but all in all, the story kept me guessing as to what had really happened and once I sat down to read, I did read for several hours and the pages suddenly flew by. I enjoyed the fact that I did not know who the villain was until the very end. I had a gazillion theories but it was just not possible to guess who it was.

A little note on the page count: my book is a different edition from the ones listed on GR, with 10 pages less and a different cover that is not represented hehe. This one is the closest in page count at least. But since it's way over 200 anyway, it doesn't really matter for Bingo :-)

Isn't it wonderful when people tag books the wrong way? ;-)
These are not fae, they are djinn/elementals, but I figured I'd check anyway with ~100 pages of tags, there was bound to be a few wrong ones hehe.
I'm reading this as a BOM in a different group, so I'm really glad it fits here, too! One less book I need to try and cram into my weekend :-)

Not a bad read at all. It was very well written with lots of intense moments. The world building was excellent and made it so I could easily put myself in the story. I liked the plot and how spunky the FMC was. The smexy times were pretty steamy, but didn’t take anything away from the story.
Overall, a really good start to the series. I look forward to reading the remaining books.
