György | 516 comments It is without doubt that Kurt Vonnegut's 'Slaughterhouse-Five' could not have been written in any decade other than the 1960s. An anti-war book about an optometrist who lives his life out of order experiencing every of his life in a non-linear fashion. He is a soldier in WWII. He is abducted by aliens who see in the 4th dimension (to them, the stars are like bright strands of spaghetti in space). He is exhibited naked in a zoo on an alien planet with an adult film actress etc. etc. etc.

What the hell was this guy on?

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

I love it, it's just great! Apparently Breakfast of Champions is even more ridiculous.

Yeah, Kurt Vonnegut is generally pretty 'out there' lol. XD

I haven't read it yet, but I intend to - House of Leaves. It's pretty crazy, not just in plot but also in format, with the text going in all sorts of different directions and endless footnotes. o.O

This book I read recently: Just Plain Weird. I found it in the library with absolutely no explanation of the plot or title on the back or anywhere so of course I just had to read it. It starts of sort of like a R. L. Stein novel, with him thinking his neighbors are aliens. To not spoil it further, it involves time travel, the end of the world and humanity...It was so crazy

I was looking through my book recommendations from this site, and one of them just sounded really crazy. It had taken my interest of graphic novels and horror books and found one that fit both- Goth A Novel of Horror. It sounds really freaky, and sort of reminds me of death note. In the way that it has two teenage students battling against each other. Only they're both sociopaths and as far as I can tell, they haven't committed the crimes, they are just fascinated by a serial killer. Tell me that does not sound crazy!

Ok though Titus Groan is on my to-read list and it looks decently crazy
