Even though a book is added, it don't appear in the search result. But when I click in the name of the author and want to see his books, it appear there. When I add a book translation and go to combine with the original version, still the particular book isn’t found there to combine. Can you kindly explain me this phenomenon?

Newly added books take some time to show up in the search. For combining, the primary author must be the same on all editions to show on the same combine screen.
Without knowing what specific book you are having trouble with it is difficult to say more.
I am having issue with The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The primary author is same but I couldn't find it to combine.
On the combine page, filter for keyword "alchemist." I have found some stray editions and set them to combine.
and in case it does not show up on the combine page you could try using the work IDs (https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...). That usually worked for me in such cases.
I am glad to read this thread and see these delays are normal. I was getting worried my book that is about to get published in a few weeks doesn't appear in the search entry. I knew it used to take 1-2 days, but ever since "the change", these database delays have become ages. I miss the old website. :'(

Back on Goodreads, searching by title or author name didn't work, but searching The legend of Samantha Torres by Jacob Ryckman works. The Goodreads search engine has always been notoriously wayward.
