(Subdue) Dark Matter, by Blake Crouch (4 stars)

Jason Dessen has always wondered (with a few sneaking regrets) what might have been if he’d stuck with his lab work in theoretical physics. Others have gained the professional successes that his brilliance could have given him. But then he looks at his life with his wife Daniela and their teenage son Charlie, and knows he wouldn’t exchange them for anything. Until one night he is kidnapped - and his world as he knows it changes for ever.

A real page turner of a thriller. The plot is solid, the angst all too believable even when the story itself becomes almost absurdly complex. The characters aren’t deep, but most of them hold their own enough to be plausible. I’m really glad the dice roll got me to this one finally. A satisfying read

I read Recursion and I really loved it so picked this one up too, but haven't read it yet.
