I was thinking the same Nancy, but I think the angle of the feet and knees looks more like they're walking towards, annoyingly. Happy to be proved wrong!
Could someone please confirm that A Psalm for the Wild-Built works for "two shoes"? It's clear on my copy but the GR cover is so low-res it's not as visible.
(person drinking tea, bottom right)
There is a high-res version on the illustrator's website which shows the two legs as separate, each with a shoe.

You might want to look at the various mod lists - I know I gave this book 4 stars!

Thanks, Nancy! Unfortunately, they are walking towards so this won't work. If you look closely, you can tell by the lifted feet they are moving forward
Marie (UK) wrote: "

I've also worked out that you can get STARS from the founding mods' names so it should work for Option 3.

That's true but in that case, they'd all have their heads on backwards!
Lauren wrote: "Would this work for option 1 - I'm not sure it is clear enough that she is walking away? Thanks
"Lauren, it works.
Dee wrote: "can you approve

Just verifying that you can see the two sandals on the guy in front.

Kathy, I can see them. You are good to go.
This is probably a stupid question, but Cathy Glass and Maggie Hartleys books are all based on their fostering within the UK but the goodreads description does not mention it, the only way I know this is that it is referenced in their writing throughout their books, but even on their websites it does not say clear cut the books are set in the UK, just that they are UK authors, however, I know for fact the books are set there. Just wondering how can I prove or use reference that these are set in England/UK? Thanks, EmilyGraceR
Emily wrote: "This is probably a stupid question, but Cathy Glass and Maggie Hartleys books are all based on their fostering within the UK but the goodreads description does not mention it, the only way I know t..."Emily, you would need to provide some kind of link or proof that the location is in England or Wales. You may be able to find that information by linking to it from another site. For instance, Amazon allows you to preview books, and you may be able to definitively determine location from there. This is something a moderator would have to confirm.
I’ve used a location reference in the book (ie on of 30 they mention being in london) or something like that
You can try using Google Books and pull up the book then do a search for the word United Kingdom (or whichever country it is in)-places where the word are in the book will show up, with page numbers and the phrases

"Lauren, it works."
Thanks!
Does this work for either Option 1A or 1B?
A: They are walking away, but a little bit of the faces are showing so wasn't sure whether it fits "completely from the back"
B: I see a shoe on each woman's left foot, so two in total but on different people.

It works for 1B.

Thanks! I like that option much better. I have great choices for options 2-5, so I’m happy. I especially like the Mod’s bookshelf task.
Joanne wrote: "I would like to make sure that this cover is going to work

That works for Opt 1A.

Thanks
Also is a reference on main book page to "MIAMI" enough for Florida location? (Option 4)Once Upon a Quinceañera
Book Concierge wrote: "Also is a reference on main book page to "MIAMI" enough for Florida location? (Option 4)Once Upon a Quinceañera"
B.C. The book's setting is listed as Miami,Florida and Florida, so I don't think it gets any better than that. : )
Book Concierge wrote: "Also is a reference on main book page to "MIAMI" enough for Florida location? (Option 4)Once Upon a Quinceañera"
Main page setting lists Miami, FL, so all is good.
Question re option 3 .... can the word be a proper noun?Eg. Anne of Green Gables "Anne" can be made from either of the two lists.
(Just an example .. not the book I'm thinking of using)

Yes any title word works.
Apologies for a daft question, but if both author initials match the mod initials for option 2, is that still fine? Or does it have to be only one of them?
Trish wrote: "Apologies for a daft question, but if both author initials match the mod initials for option 2, is that still fine? Or does it have to be only one of them?"Both initials is fine too.
Option 1b -
Option 4 -
- Ross Greenwood It's set in Peterborough UK for England setting (The author is from Peterborough as well as I am lol)
Option 2 - Santa Montefiore I've a few of this author's, so not decided which 1 to read yet.
Can you please let me know if I have adhered to the tasks.
Many thanks

They all work. Just make sure that you can provide proof of the setting for Option 4 since it is not on the main page or in the book description.

This task is designed to honor our moderators, past, present and incoming! We appreciate everything you do in order to make this challenge fun and entertaining, especially maintaining order when we don’t follow the rules. Thank you!
Past: Kristina
Present: DLM Rose, Sandy
Incoming: Jayne, JennRenee, Lucy-Bookworm
This is a 3-book task. Complete 3 different options from the list. Books must total 750 pages or more.
No books with children, kids or related genres on the main book page may be used. No graphic novel, sequential art or related genres may be used.
Required: Identify the options.
Option 1: As DLM Rose, Sandy and Kristina walk away from their moderator duties for a much-deserved break, Jayne, JennRenee and Lucy-Bookworm prepare to take over moderator duties. They have big shoes to fill!
a) Read a book whose cover shows an adult female(s) walking away. The female image must be a full body shot completely from the back, head to foot (the full hem of a dress with assumed feet would work). Some representation of movement must be show: a stride, a step, a lifted foot or skirt. Other persons can be on cover facing any direction.
Required: Post cover.
Examples:
OR
b) Read a book that has at least two shoes on the cover. Shoes can stand alone or be on someone’s feet. Slippers, sandals, boots, athletic shoes, and other footwear work. Required: Post cover.
Examples:
Option 2: Read a book whose author’s first or last name shares one of these initials with our mods, “D, S, K, J or L.”
Option 3: Read a book whose title or subtitle contains a word of 4 or more letters made from the letter combo of our founding mods names: (DLMRoseSandyKristina) OR the letter combo of our incoming mods names: (JayneJennReneeLucy-Bookworm.) Letters can only be used as often as they appear in mod name combo.
Required: Identify which name combo and word used.
Examples:
The Maidens
Word: "maidens" found in DlMroSEsANdykrIstina
Hang the Moon
Word: "moon" found in jayNejennReneelucy-bOOkworM
Option 4: Our mods are from Virginia, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, England, and Wales. Read a book set at least 50% in one of these locations.
Required: If the setting is not clear from the GR description or the metadata, state the setting and provide a reference.
Option 5: Take a page out of our Mod Squads bookshelf. Choose any mod and read a book that she rated 4 or 5 stars.
Required: Identify the mod and rating in your post.
