Andrew Brooks (acb13adm) | 78 comments I think it was a short novel, but it may have been a story in a collection. A colonized planet was being visited by a "professional tourist". These people made a total record of their visit that they would sell when they get back to earth. This colony had multiple stars, and periodic times of bright light caused by conjunction. I think called flare times, during which a completely different set of lifeforms emerged. These organisms, more energetic than the usual set were more energetic from the brighter light and devastated the usual biome Something happened to panic the woman, and she turned all her vehicle lights on, which attracted the flare lifeforms, and she fled towards the colony site. This was going to be a disaster for earthly food crops being grown. Since they couldn't raise her on radio, (don't remember why), they eventually set up a lot of lights in a spot to stop them. Then the guy responsible for the tourist was getting in trouble because the artist didn't have a good time (the memory record wouldn't draw interest)...

Juels | 3312 comments The only thing that comes to mind regarding memory/tourism would be We Can Remember It for You Wholesale by Philip K. Dick. I've never read it but it inspired the movie Total Recall.

Andrew Brooks (acb13adm) | 78 comments No, not that. The professional tourists had some sort of tech that recorded everything they experienced. They went along a circuit of planets, then sold them at home.

Andrew Brooks (acb13adm) | 78 comments We have a winner! I missed it because I was skimming through the front of stories... I should have been skimming the endings, since I remembered that part.
