adding on to @legendofthe3divas, I also think the cruel prince has more tension. If you want romance as a minor sublot, cruel prince. Acotar is heavily romance based.
Another thing to consider is how engaging the stories are. For me acotar was easier to get into but the cruel prince has more flowery writing

Cruel Prince is soooooooooooooo good! I personally didn’t really enjoy acotar but I also love tcp so I’m biased lmao
