Christopher | 25 comments Over the last six months or so I have posted two requests to add a book missing from your database - 'The Complete Guide To Cycling Psychology' by Dr Jim Taylor and Mark Beaumont.

The Requests were in the Goodreads Librarians Group.

The requests were made with full information - title, ISBN, page count, etc, etc. and followed the GoodReads guidelines for posting a request for a book addition.

On both occasions the requests disappeared from the Discussion board soon after posting.

Why is this?

One cause could be if you don't choose a folder, your request will disappear from view quite quickly.

But a lot of people (including me) have had a post disappear. This is a bug which you can report to Support (Staff) here https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...

That's interesting, thank you - I definitely didn't add a folder on my first request, but I *think* I did on my second one yesterday.

I'll try again, if not, I'll try posting it as a bug like you also suggest.

Thx
C

Julie Ditton (storybooklady) | 234 comments I sympathise with your frustration. As Carol said, this bug in the system sometimes happens. To have it happen repeatedly can be aggrivationg. It didi ndeed get lost again. I searched the additions folder in the proper time frame and didn't see your name.

Please respond to this message with all the information. I have marked this thread so that I will be notified when someone replies. When I see that notification, I will be glad to take care of the book addition for you.

In the future, make sure that any requests are placed in what seems to be the most appropriate folder. Mark it for notification. I would then bookmark the post. That way if it gets lost in the shuffle, you can find it easily. If no one responds you can easily find the post and add a new message, thus bumping it back to the top of the queue.

Christopher | 25 comments Thanks for the reply on this.

After raising the issue as a bug I got the book added to your database. so that was sorted for me in April.

And thank you for the tips on how to track requests; that is good advice.

The issue is is that I did all this on my second attempt (before the 'arg!!!' update message...) - put in the right folder, marked it for notification and bookmarked it so I could go back to it and check it easily.

Following the bookmark I saved just led to a dead link webpage, indicating that the page had disappeared. Again.

My complaint is not that they are being 'lost' or not acted on, it's that they seem to be actively taken down somehow.
