Desiree | 15 comments Hey there! So, something unimaginable happened. The neverending book pile next to my bed has disappeared! I've been frantically searching the threads to see if something pops up other than the books I am waiting for at the library or have already got my hands on...

I guess Im kinda picky, so any help is much appreciated-thank you! I enjoy both paranormal and Urban Fantasy. I enjoy first person but im not too picky about that.

But a few things I am looking for:
-A good plot
-is having one main character narration throughout the series.(Not a different couple each book like BDB).
-HAS to have Romance and preferably a chase or build up would be nice!
-I love a good romance and steaminess is not a problem, pure erotica however, mehh not my style.
-Action and suspense is great and humor is always welcomed!

-On my waitlist is Cassie Palmer series, and Jaz Parks.

*If you haven't glanced at my 'already read' list,
I HAVE ALREADY READ & LOVED:
-Night Huntress, Jeaniene Frost
-Black Dagger Brotherhood, JR WArd
-Sookie Stackhouse, C. Harris
-Fever series, KM Moning (Great series but not enough romance)
-Twilight (Got me reading again)
-Dark Swan series, Richelle Mead

I appreciate anyone willing to help my picky self =) And my fiance will too, Ive been hogging his laptop every night searching for books :)

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Here are a few of my favorite series starters that have romance, the chase, suspense and a plot linking the books. The Lucinda series is a spinoff of the Mona Lisa series, so, I would read Mona Lisa first so you dont run into any spoilers.

Mona Lisa Awakening (Monère, #1) by Sunny Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong Lucinda, Darkly (Demon Princess Chronicles, #1) by Sunny

If you are looking for YA with romance, but nothing too racy, then these are my 2 favorite series starters in that category:
[image error] Blue Bloods (Blue Bloods, #1) by Melissa de la Cruz

I will be interested to know what you choose!

Jess | 3721 comments Hmm, I'm searching through my books.

Have you tried Laurell K. Hamilton her Anita Blake series is good. There's romance... but there's a lot of it, with some different people.

OO and Ilona Andrew's Kate Daniels series is AWESOME. The first book is Magic Bites.

Keri Arthur's series: Riley Jensen series, first book is: Full Moon Rising

Carrie Vaughn's series: Kitty Norville, first book is: Kitty and the Midnight Hour

Lilith Saintcrow's Dante Valentine series, first book is: Working for the Devil

Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series, first book is: Dead Witch Walking

Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Full Moon Rising (Riley Jenson Guardian, #1) by Keri Arthur Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, Book 1) by Carrie Vaughn Working for the Devil (Dante Valentine, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow Dead Witch Walking (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison

The problem is that with Urban Fantasy books, which tend to follow the same character, there isn't always a happy ever after in the romance section. So if that's what you're looking for these books probably aren't good. They do have romance, but it doesn't always end the way you want it to, and some of the relationships extend throughout the series.

I hope I helped a little though. I have tons of other books on my shelf if you wanna look for some other books.

Melodie (melodieco) A couple of my favorites that I don't see mentioned so far are The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine and Evernight series by Claudia Gray. Both are YA, but don't necessarily read that way. Rachel Caine also has an adult series called the Weather Wardens.

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments If you like Richelle Mead than you have to try her Succubus series. I also love her vampire academy series, but they are YA.

Another couple of great series are the Shifter series by Rachel Vincent and the Mercy Thompson series and Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs

I second Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson series, Lilith Saintcrow's Dante Valentine series, and Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series.
I would also add Lilith Saintcrow's Jill Kismet series starting with Night Shift

Desiree | 15 comments Thank you all for your suggestions! I definately have a lot to look into :))

message 8: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) A series I loved is Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels books, there are 3 (4th comes out in May 2010), Magic Bites, Magic Burns & Magic Strikes. They fit pretty much all of your specs--A good plot, one main character narration throughout the series, awesome chase & build up in the romance dept, tons of action and suspense, and funny & snarky to boot. Add great character development & the each book is better than the last.

Also, Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy is great--great build-up, great snarky main character, good supporting characters & storylines. It is a YA, but I found it to be much more "romantic" than the other YA's I've read. Lots of build up, but it's not for naught. :) I enjoyed it much more than her Succubus series--the Succubus series has more sex, but the main character bugs me sometimes & I find her love interest to be a major dud, which detracts from the books for me.

new_user Laura, you should try her Dark Swan series. It's awesome. It has more action and more interesting love interests than her Succubus series, imo.

LOL--I'm reading Storm Born as we speak. :)

new_user LOL! Cool. Just bear in mind the first is less faster-paced and action-packed than the first because the first is basically establishing the heroine as a major player. I liked the second much better. :)

I'd have to agree about the Kate Daniels series. It fits the description and it gets better in each book.

Betelgeuze | 158 comments Paranormal romance:
Angels' Blood
Fantasy Lover, The Dark-Hunter series has different main characters each book, but it's really good.
A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, #1)
Requiem for the Devil(not a series)

Urban Fantasy: (If you're willing to give a non-romantic plot a try)
The Devil You Know
Storm Front
Nightlife
A Kiss Before the Apocalypse A Remy Chandler Novel
Unshapely Things

I love Sunny's Mona Lisa books too. I e-mailed her re when the next is coming out and she said she has no plans right now for another book. I haven't tried the Lucinda books yet though although I do have the first one.

What! Like she is not planning to write another book or she just doesn't know when she will write another Mona Lisa book? The Lucinda books are good too--they read much like the Mona Lisa books.

She said she "may" come back to Mona Lisa. I told her I love those books and hoped she's just take a break and come back to them. She e-mailed me right away. Maybe if you go to her website www.sunnyauthor.com and tell her you liked Mona Lisa too, that might change her mind. Sounded like she might be tired of the character - I don't know. Upsetting :( I'll try the Luncinda. It's in my stack.

new_user I'm reading the Kate Daniels series now mainly for Curran, LOL. *oogles manly man* xD

message 18: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Oh Curran is such a great specimen lol. I can't wait for the new one to come out :)

new_user Mmmm, specimen... *oogle* LOL. That scene where he was wiping himself off after weightlifting, classic. LOL. Although he's cutting it close with all his snide comments. I'll cut him some slack though assuming he makes up for it later.
