Jonathan Scribner | 3 comments In the book "Departure" by A.G. Riddle, one of the main characters, Nick Stone, changes immensely throughout the book. In the beginning of the book, Nick doesn't know what to do with his life, and he is at a crossroads. Every day he is doing the same thing, and he mentions how he feels like he is reliving his life every day. He is presented with a great job opportunity that would change his life forever. But that all changes when Flight 305 crashes into the future. Nick instinctively takes charge and takes the lives of the passengers into his own hands. Throughout the book he changes greatly, protecting and leading the surviving victims back to the present day. He also prevents a catastrophe for his world that he sees in the future. In conclusion, Nick Stone changes in a great way in the book "Departure".

Brandon Baker | 3 comments In the book, Divergence by Veronica Roth Tris is the main character. In the begining of the book she was a part of the Abengation clan. They were supposed to be selfless, not admire themselves and look the same. She was weak and not self reliant. In the begining she was getting her hair cut by her mother and able to look in the mirror a privlege she is not allowed ever. Then she changed clans to dauntless. They are all about fearlessness and danger. Part of the initiation is firing weapons, fighting, conquering their fears or being able to suppress or control them. She becomes strong, fearless or able to control he fears better than others and self reliant. A part to show she is fearless or brave, she went on a zip line off a skyscraper and had to let go and trust the other initiates would catch her by themselves. This change Tris went through is for the better.

Emily Goriss | 3 comments In the book Sucks to be Me by Kimberly Pauly, the main character, Mina, is faced with a huge discussion to either become a vampire like her family or to not become a vampire and have to leave her parents. In the beginning of the story Mina is quiet. She has a best friend, Serena. Serena is the only person Mina hangs out with. Soon the vampire council gives her a certain amount of time to make up her mind. She is forced to go to vampire classes to learn how to be a vampire, if she chooses to be one. She meets two boys. At the same time another boy at her school is interested in her. Soon she has another discussion to make. Which boy does she love? Throughout the story she becomes more confident. There is a certain glow of self assurance that radiates of of Mina. Once she has made her final discussion about being a vampire and about the boys she wants to be with its as if a weight has been lifted off her shoulders. Overall, Mina changes for the better.

Michelle Rowe | 2 comments In my last book The Book Thief a character that changes is Liesel. First of all, she goes from not having a place to live to living with the Hubermanns. The bigger change though is Liesel's feelings about Rudy Steiner. At the beginning Liesel thinks Rudy is an annoying kid that wants her to like him and be his girlfriend. Throughout the novel Rudy helps Liesel a lot and shows that he really cares about her. At the end when Rudy is dying Liesel realizes that she really loves Rudy.

This made her braver than before and led to her going across the country. When she is rescued by the young elites, a group of people with powers too. Harrison Nijkamp | 3 comments In my book, Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer, the main character Christopher McCandless has changed quite a bit. When he left his normal life to create a new one, he got rid of all of his belongings and headed 'into the wild'. He didn't want to be known as Christopher McCandless anymore so he changed his name to Alexander Supertramp, just for fun. All in all, Christopher has changed to be a more fun, and careless person.

Tarquin Bates | 2 comments In the book The Stand by Stephen King, Stu Redman undergoes a change that many people can't handle. He has to become a leader for a group of survivors. He goes from being a nobody in Texas who lived the average life to having people depending on him. These circumstances are tough for Stu because most people are not mentally tough enough to handle the burden of being a leader. Because of this change, Stu learns to grit his teeth and make hard decisions that affect many lives as well as become selfless and put the safety of his group before his own. Overall, the change Stu Redman undergoes tests his abilities and creates strong willed person from someone that used to be nobody.

Lexi Shepard | 3 comments In the book "My side of the mountain" by Jean Craighead George, the main character goes through a slight change. He decides to live in the woods and learns new ways of thinking and how to survive. In the winter it is cold and he has to find different ways to get through it. He stores his food, yet animals get to it. He builds a more secure area, yet stays calm, and respects the animals. He also learns to stay calm the whole time and not panic. He learns inner peace and how to be one with nature, even through harsh times. In conclusion, the main character has changed a lot.
