Year - 2013-2015, probably. Read in Canada, but I think the book was published generally in North America/not a small, local book.

Plot - rich philanthropist woman (really a businesswoman type) opens a school for budding young girls who show some promise. school is competitive to get into, and the daughter of the philathropist is also there. one of the main characters whose story we follow (I think her name was Charlie), has a very similar name to a famous singer, so she thinks that her admission to the school was an accident, and that the philanthropist woman actually meant to admit the singer instead.


there were multiple books in this series, and they were written in perhaps 300 pages each - quite short and aimed at a tween audience.
