I finished up Blackmail and Bibingka and moved it to the completed tab. I don’t think it fits any of the remaining prompts for round 2, so I didn’t fill anything in for it. According to the author’s note, her contract has been extended for another three books. I don’t read a lot of cozy mysteries, but I happen to like this series so I’m happy there will be more. Also, this one has a recipe for Coquito in it that I need to save for the holiday season…

I completed Mercury Pictures Presents and slotted it for a shirt, set in an office place. A good portion was in the company offices.
Morning, Team! We're looking good! We've got our casual and party outfits and close to finishing the others. I took a little time to note which books are being read for the missing prompts. Wow! If other books are finished before the ones listed below, awesome. Otherwise, it looks like we're starting Round 3!!! Amazing teamwork!
Business needs to complete the look -
Formal needs to complete the look -
Evening Gown: A book where a major character is royalty or nobility - Mermaid (Irene)
High Heels: A book featuring a fancy event (wedding, funeral, coronation, graduation, etc.) - The Mitford Trial (Sheena)?
Avant-Garde needs to complete the look (lots of options for this one) -
On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous (Sherri), Buzz (Abbi), The Pretty One (Abbie), Autism in Heels (Jen K), Mermaid (Irene), Walden (Sherri), Circling Back to You (JennH)
Happy reading and whatever else you have planned for today!

I must have missed reading the author's note this time. That's great that there'll be more books. I didn't expect otherwise!
And it's a good problem to have, not being to fit the book for the second round. That means your book starts off Round 3! I pencil it in for Shirt: A book by an author you've read before for now. We can always move if need be.

I searched last night and came up with 3 more books that will, I think, help us fill some of the more obscure categories:Clouds of Witness (Lord Peter Wimsey #2) by Dorothy L. Sayers
The Spare Man by Mary Robinette Kowal
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
I have listed them on the planning sheet and hope to finish at least 2 of them today!
Happy Reading, Team Chanel! And happy everything else as well!!
YAY US!
I’m working through The Pretty One: On Life, Pop Culture, Disability, and Other Reasons to Fall in Love With Me hoping to finish before the weekend is over. It’s autobiographical essays which to me fits non-chronological and multiple decades. Or just a new to me author if someone doesn’t fill it in first. I picked it because the author has Cerebral Palsy as does my mom. All the reading I’ve done and I can’t think of any other books I’ve read with CP representation.@JennH - What other culinary cozies should I try? It’s nice to have some reliably light books to sprinkle in with some of the heavy ones I always seem to choose. As far as the Tita Rosie’s ones, it’s more of a complete lack of knowledge about how publishing works. I didn’t know it was three books and then three more.
@Lynn - Red, White & Royal Blue!!
Hi team!I'm going to finish Mermaid today, which I'll use for the evening gown slot, and I think I'm still on track to finish a few more books by the end of the weekend. I think we might be able to get a third round of looks done for some of the categories if we keep this awesome momentum going :D
Wow, go Team Chanel! We have 2 completed outfits for Casual, Business, Party, and Avant-Garde occasions! @LYNN - I agree, with Abbie. I really enjoyed Red, White & Royal Blue.
@Abbie - I've read so many great and not so great culinary mysteries. My favorite series would have to be:
A Bake Shop Mystery by Ellie Alexander
A Domestic Diva Mystery by Krista Davis
Cupcake Bakery Mystery by Jenn McKinlay
And one I recently discovered which I think is in a similar vein to Tita Rosie's Kitchen Mystery is A Caribbean Kitchen Mystery by Raquel V. Reyes.
@Irene - I love your optimism. We've done beyond well. Anything in a possible third round would be icing on the cake!
@Sherri - Awww, that's too bad. I always thought it was a book I should should read, but maybe not.... Thank you for taking one for the team!

I run the newsletter for our day program which comes out every second week. It's impossible to put it all together during work hours, so I get paid extra to work on it outside of program. It means I give up one day every other weekend, but at least it gives me some extra money (usually to buy books!)
I only managed to read 56 pages physically today, but I also listened to 10 hours of An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us while I was working. To be fair, I listened to it on 1.5x speed so it didn't quite take 10 hours, but I think I'm still allowed to count the whole time elapsed??
Morning :D Last day!! I didn't get a chance to check in yesterday but did finish my book. going to get caught up here & on the spreadsheet & see if I can squeeze in one more read today.
L Y N N wrote: "Sheena wrote: "Morning :DI'm going to finish The Man Who Died Twice today and pick at least one more book to finish for the challenge. I'll have a look and see what's useful before..."
I enjoyed it. It's a fun read. You definitely have to suspend disbelief but I love all the mischief that the characters get up to.
LOL, I thought I posted here earlier this morning with my reading update but I don't see it ... so I either didn;t save or I've sent my comment to another random thread! LOL So, looks like we just need
High Heels: A book featuring a fancy event (wedding, funeral, coronation, graduation, etc.)
to complete a full round two!
Anyone got anything going? If not, I will find something that fits and that I can finish today.
Any other books can go in Round three and we'll see how far we can get :D Great reading team!!
Hi Everyone, I will continue reading On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous today. I doubt I'll finish it. I'm not liking it as much as I thought I would. I think it will pick up. Today is my husband's birthday. We're meeting friends & family at a brewery this afternoon so there goes some reading time. Have a good last day everyone.
Sherri wrote: "I finished Walden. I hated it. I put it under Avant-Garde an author you have never read before."You made me laugh! :)

Ah, I see. You are good to do that! And I'm very glad you are paid!! We should be paid for the time it requires to complete our work!

Shhhhh... We won't tell! Added this to my TBR listing!! It looks amazing!
Finally finished my audiobook. I was going to use it for round 3 but I think it works for the remaining round 2 of high heels. She attends multiple fancy events as a speaker and meets British royalty at an event in London. Actual high heels are regularly mentioned.
Sheena wrote: "LOL, I thought I posted here earlier this morning with my reading update but I don't see it ... so I either didn;t save or I've sent my comment to another random thread! LOL So, looks like we just need

to complete a full round two!"
So, the "trial of peers" described at the end of Clouds of Witness is definitely a "fancy event" as described. The full House of Lords in all their regalia of the time (fancy clothing with full wigs, etc), and the venue was packed! The preliminary readings required hours before the trial even began! I think I can count it... And we're done with the second round!
Now I'll place the Darling Dahlias book and then decide which of the two remaining books to concentrate on first, since I'm uncertain I can finish both of them today... But I will try to do so!
Rachel wrote: "L Y N N wrote: "Rachel wrote: "123 pages today, but still less than halfway through Chain of Gold. I remember thinking, phew! bc I always listen at a faster speed. Most readers are too slow for me and there is no way for me to keep track of how long I listen bc I listen whenever I can and I never note the time. Plus people read books at different speeds, so audiobooks should be no different.

I was going to say that my book, Fatal Fascinator would go but it looks like someone beat me to the punch! Yay! And Wow! We've got two complete wardrobes! Woohoo! Go Team Chanel!
JennH wrote: "Sheena wrote: "LOL, I thought I posted here earlier this morning with my reading update but I don't see it ... so I either didn;t save or I've sent my comment to another random thread! LOL So, lo..."
Hey, JennH! How about you use Fatal Fascinator to finish the second round and I'll move Clouds of Witness to a more appropriate prompt?
I went ahead and listed FF to fulfill that last prompt for the second round. Can you go ahead and move it and list it for that prompt on the planning and completed sheets?
Sheena/JennH:I moved Fatal Fascinator to the last second round prompt.
I also took it upon myself to continue counting books for the Business prompts with Darling Dahlias and Clouds of Witness.
The Spare Man can fulfill business clothes on the cover and Red, White & Royal Blue can probably fulfill set in the city. That would leave set in an office workspace...
It makes it difficult when there is only 1 prompt marked for a book to tell if it could be used elsewhere, so that was the best I could do.
However, you guys are the captains so ultimately I leave it to you. My books should be easy to relocate if needed elsewhere since I love to see just how many prompt one book can fulfill! :)
I'm amazed at our progress!
JennH wrote: "Rachel wrote: "L Y N N wrote: "Rachel wrote: "123 pages today, but still less than halfway through Chain of Gold. I figured it makes sense to count the total amount of time either way since I listened to 10 hours worth of content and really have no idea how many hours I actually spent (I would imagine it's still 8 or 9 anyway). Definitely finishing this audiobook off this afternoon, and if I'm lucky I might be able to finish Chain of Gold too.
L Y N N wrote: "JennH wrote: "Sheena wrote: "LOL, I thought I posted here earlier this morning with my reading update but I don't see it ... so I either didn;t save or I've sent my comment to another random thread..."Hey, Lynn, thanks! I haven't taken a look at the spreadsheet but I'm sure what you've done is fine. I'll take a look in a bit. I actually hadn't finished Fatal Fascinator yet but it'll be true in less than an hour. :)
Also my mistake, I thought Rachel had finished An Immense World. I've removed it from the completed tab and put it back in plans. I don't know what prompts it might fit other than the obvious one, 400+ pages.
Ok, I've finished Fatal Fascinator. I've started a short audiobook, Octopussy & the Living Daylights. It fits a few prompts and I've been wanting to finish the James Bond series, so this'll do it.Now I'm off to take a look at the spreadsheet.
Happy Sunday everyone!I'm finishing up The Postman Always Rings Twice, which can be used for either the black & white cover or a short book. I'll do my best to finish one more book (either The Red House Mystery or The Thief) by the end of the day, I just wish I knew which prompts they would fill!
Happy Sunday! I did a ton of errands and managed to start and finish an audiobook with the errands. Will try to find a spot for it.
JennH wrote: "Also my mistake, I thought Rachel had finished An Immense World. I've removed it from the completed tab and put it back in plans. I don't know what prompts it might fit other than the obvious one, ..."You can re-add it! I've now finished it
Good news from my end. I am definitely on track to complete both of my last two books before midnight! Whew! I put off some errands until tomorrow and just kept reading. Plus, these two books are soooo good!! I want to finish them! @JennH Perhaps I can see into the future and just knew you were going to finish Fatal Fascinator! LOL
Finish line time!! I did manage to finish The Pretty One and added it to the completed tab. I won’t finish anything else, but will probably read a little of something new when I go to bed and add the pages in the morning.
Rachel wrote: "JennH wrote: "Also my mistake, I thought Rachel had finished An Immense World. I've removed it from the completed tab and put it back in plans. That would help towards completing third Casual or Business outfit. In the meanwhile, I'll just plug it in for the 400+ pages prompt.

And just a reminder, the readathon doesn't end at midnight - each day counts from when we wake up until we go to sleep, so if you're a night owl or suffer from insomnia like me, my day ends well after midnight. ;)
@Jenn, as a night owl, I feel seen :D I'll be logging my final book(s) tomorrow but will search for something with a main character that works outdoors in the meantime. I have a few free kindle romances featuring soldiers/knights/Scottish warriors/etc and I think that would count, right?? LOL
Edit: Never mind, just saw that we don't need that anymore! If I find something I'll probably use it for the nobility or fancy event prompts instead.
Hey Team, I fussed with the spreadsheet again. I moved a few books around and now it looks like if we're looking to complete a third business outfit, all we need is a Shirt: A book set in an office workspace. Wow. I'm so impressed with all the books Team Chanel has read!
Irene wrote: "@Jenn, as a night owl, I feel seen :D I'll be logging my final book(s) tomorrow but will search for something with a main character that works outdoors in the meantime. I have a few free kindle r..."
Irene, we're good on the outdoors prompt. But by all means read for pages/undergarments if you'd like. As of now, if I've done my calculations correctly, all we are missing is the office workspace prompt. I'll continue looking to see if there's any more switches I can make.
JennH wrote: "Irene, we're good on the outdoors prompt. But by all means read for pages/undergarments if you'd like. One last update before I go back to reading The Underground Railroad for pages/undergarments. I think I've got it. I've made some more moves. I hope I haven't confused anyone. All the outfits we were going for are complete. We have:
3 complete Casual outfits
3 complete Business outfits, minus undergarments
2 complete Party outfits
2 complete Formal outfits
2 complete Avant-Garde outfits
Anything else we add will be extra. :) Great job, Team Chanel! We will be one fine looking group!
I went ahead and added my last two to a third Party outfit since it only has 4 prompts. But again, feel free to move wherever! Team Chanel rocks!! I have read more in this read-a-thon than any others! And so many excellent books!!
Thanks so much for the camaraderie!
JennH wrote: "Rachel wrote: "JennH wrote: "Also my mistake, I thought Rachel had finished An Immense World. I've removed it from the completed tab and put it back in plans. I ended up reading another 88 pages of Chain of Gold, but it wasn't enough to finish it off unfortunately.
Thanks for helping update my reading on the spreadsheet for me! I always get so lost on the spreadsheets somehow.
Good Morning Team Chanel, You all did a great job reading. I enjoyed coming along for the ride. Thank you Sheena & JenH for being Co-Captains. You both did a great job. I always hate when a read-a-thon is over because I miss my team. I just read for pages yesterday so I added those this morning. I hope to see all of you on the next read-a-thon.
Morning Team, @Sherri, totally agree!!
I finished one book yesterday and added to our spreadsheet.
We did so well! 2 full rounds, plus a third casual, business' and party outfit! That's a pretty decent spring wardorbe :D
Lovely reading with you all this past week. See you next time
Congrats to the team! We/ you did amazing!! Thanks to the leaders and everyone for a fun and collaborative read-a-thon! Sorry that my real life got in the way a bit. This is the only full week that I will have at home between March 1 and mid-June and it has been hectic. We did great though!
