Marissa Hi all, seems like book depository will be closing on the 26th of April. Totally unexpected (to me) :(

Anyone know any good and reliable alternative websites for book buying? I live in Europe so hopefully something that doesn’t charge a lot for shipping..

I’ve used “awesome books” before you can get new books or get secondhand books from there it’s really good you can get really good secondhand books for cheap too :) it’s definitely worth checking out

Elin | 28 comments I live in a european country that has an Amazon and that has worked great. And if your country doesn't have it but you still live in the EU area you should be able to order from another EU countries and still don´t need to pay any customs. There is no shipping cost if you spend over a certain amount.

We've had Amazon only recently and it's useful, but half the time the books sent arrive (partly) damaged.. still! it's a good option. Thanks :D

Taylor | 10 comments I've heard good things about Blackwell's UK but have never used it personally. Prices seem comparable to Book Depository's. The delivery fee is included in the price of the book you purchase.

If you're open to second-hand books, World of Books (wob) is a good option. They ship both pre-loved and some brand new books to something like 200 countries and offer free shipping as far as I know. Some second-hand copies are a little rougher than others and the shipping time can be quite long, but the company is a certified B-corp (meets highest standards of ethical and environmental impact). However there is no guarantee they'll carry the book you're looking for, or that it will be a great deal. They also sell rare editions if you're into collecting but some copies can be very pricey.

Local thrift shops can also be a great option if you're okay with second-hand books. I'm unsure about in your country, but where I live op-shops sometimes have very popular books in good condition and they are often significantly cheaper than RRP.

I imagine eBay would also work for both new and used books, but watch out for scammers.

Bookstore franchises where I live also sell e-books through their websites, so check the store websites local to you if you're interested in reading digitally.

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed reply! I'll definitely check out Blackwell and WOB! And yes, thrift stores are great too! Found a few rare gems there. Ebay too!
Thanks again! ♥♥
