Children's Book: it Involved Eddie and Shapes

I have had this conversation with my mom about what my favorite book was when I was a child. She told me it was a book about a boy named Eddie and it involves shapes. I know she has used the line "Eddie likes triangles" for a decent amount of my life because of this book. Neither of us have any idea what happened to this book or what it is called. I was born in 1988 if that helps.
