think we finished task #2?

message 55: by Shia (new)

Shia (808bookdr) | 128 comments Just posted to the main thread for Task 2 check - hope I did things right! Figured we would all want to know what the next task is soon

message 56: by Ariel (last edited Apr 16, 2023 06:40PM) (new)

Ariel (aellen) | 976 comments You did it perfectly! :)

message 57: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31627 comments I will check your completions tomorrow - we just got home and I am exhausted!

Here is your next task!

Task 3 - 12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task.

You can do the recommendations however you wish - to the group, to each individual, to the person below you on the list or ?? - it's up to you. If you want to provide a specific shelf to pick from, it needs to have a minimum of 10 books on it. Please include a link to the message with the recommendations in your completion posts.

message 58: by Shia (new)

Shia (808bookdr) | 128 comments okay guys! this should be scary and fun lol!

I can't choose just one so thankfully they're allowing shelves! here is my favorites! I recommend any and all lol!

message 59: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Great, Shia. Do we all do a shelf recommendation? Or specific recommendation maybe to each/one team mate?

message 60: by Shia (new)

Shia (808bookdr) | 128 comments I think it’s however you want to do it per the task details. I figured providing a shelf gave you folks more options to choose from versus me recommending just one and I also can’t choose just one lol! I want you all to enjoy my favorites! If you do do a shelf, there has to be at least 10 books on there.

message 61: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Btw Shia, Fushigi Yugi - wasn’t that a blast from the past. It’s been soo long since I read them. I think they were one of my first mangas ever. I may have to read them again but i don’t think mangas are allowed for TART.

message 62: by Shia (new)

Shia (808bookdr) | 128 comments Really??? I thought any book counted as long as it met the 150 pg count minimum? I didn’t see anywhere in the rules that graphic novels aren’t allowed but if I’m wrong let me know!

message 63: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Yeah, I read through the rules and didn’t see it either. I’ve asked Mkat about it.

I could link my favourites shelf too. Just wanted to check what the rest wanted.

message 64: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Teigland | 386 comments Should we just do recommendations in order our names were listed?
Vi to Ariel
Ariel to Brittney
Brittney to Shia
Shia to Vi

message 65: by Shia (new)

Shia (808bookdr) | 128 comments We could if we wanted it to be “strict” like that. I was just putting a general rec to the entire group so you all could feel free to choose between the choices.

message 66: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (aellen) | 976 comments We could also do something as simple as "I recommend any of the five stars from 2022 that I read". I think that may also be pretty easy.

message 67: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments yeah, we should make it easy on us.

Books I read in 2022 rated 4 star and above - book shelf. I only have 2 5 star books last year and one of them is not English.

I would also recommend my favorites shelf.

Will something like this work?

message 68: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (aellen) | 976 comments I think so. I have a few five stars so I recommend any of them - especially Beach Read by Emily Henry.

message 69: by Shia (new)

Shia (808bookdr) | 128 comments My list I sent are all 5 stars!

message 70: by Vi (last edited Apr 17, 2023 01:54AM) (new)

Vi | 2794 comments So do we do like 4 and 5 star reads in 2022 for everyone? If yes, then maybe we need a clear post stating that as we have to link it in our completion post.

message 71: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I will either go with
Daughter of the Moon Goddess (The Celestial Kingdom Duology, #1) by Sue Lynn Tan - Shia rated 5 star in Jan 2022 or
Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon - Ariel rated 5 star in July 2022

I put together a romance rec list of my 5 stars in 2022.

message 75: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Hey Shia, will you be putting together a list of 5 stars from 2022?

Vi | 2794 comments Great list, Brittney & Ariel. There are so many books that I wish I could read. If only I had the time (and the money).

Seriously eyeing - Waking Olivia by Elizabeth O'Roark and Dear Enemy by Kristen Callihan in addition to the 2 above.

They're both really good. Waking Olivia has a little bit more heavy topics. Both are on Kindle Unlimited if you have that.

Vi | 2794 comments Brittney wrote: "They're both really good. Waking Olivia has a little bit more heavy topics. Both are on Kindle Unlimited if you have that."

I do have it. I'll decide based on my mood when I read before bed. Leaning towards Waking Olivia by Elizabeth O'Roark so let's see.

message 80: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments In the meantime, can we all decide for other tasks:

1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.
29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.

That way we can all be prepared when it's called out.

message 81: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31627 comments I checked your completions and all looked good. 😊

message 82: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (aellen) | 976 comments I like that idea, Vi!

1. My suggestions: Harloe Rae, Tara Sivec. Sarina Bowen.
9. Brooklyn Bruisers. Love in Bloom (Melissa Foster) . Play by Play (Jaci Burton)
29. My vote is sports - specifically baseball or hockey.

message 83: by Shia (last edited Apr 17, 2023 11:08PM) (new)

Shia (808bookdr) | 128 comments After everyone answers Vi's questions (thanks for the tip!), we should put them in a wheel to select??

1. Meghan Quinn, Trilina Pucci, Emma Hamm, Lucy Score, Jennifer L Armentrout, Colleen Hoover

9. Goddess Summoning series by P C Cast, Ice Planet barbarians by Ruby Dixon, Never After series by Emily McIntire

29. billionaires/CEOs??

Vi | 2794 comments Completion Post

Waking Olivia by Elizabeth O'Roark

Task #: 3
Task: Read a book recommended to you by a teammate
Book: Waking Olivia
Author: by Elizabeth O'Roark
Page Numbers: 330
Date Completed: 18 April
How Book Fits: Recommended by Brittney here.
Rating/Review: 5 stars
This is a slightly dark, new-adult romance with a slight taboo (track athlete and coach) but not a big age difference. Both the characters were fleshed out very well, the conflict was written vividly. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I ended up staying very late

message 85: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Great recommendation Brittney! I loved it, probably the first 5 star read this year so far. I started it last night and read 50% staying up late.

message 86: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments My choices:

1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task. - Elizabeth O'Roark (yes, off the book high want more), Laurelin Paige, Kate Clayborn, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Tara Sivec (looks interesting)
9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task. - Bergman Brothers, Winston Brothers, Wayward Children (I'm open to other suggestions, these are just in addition)
29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession. I agree.. the profession to be a sport, either. Maybe the Brooklyn Bruisers will be good here.

message 87: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Teigland | 386 comments Yay! I'm so glad you liked it. There is a second book in that series that was good too, Drowning Erin.

Answers to the questions above:
1. Authors: Mariana Zapata, Elizabeth O'Roark, Vi Keeland, Brittainy Cherry

2. Series: Willow Springs or Boys of Tommen

3. I agree with above and would like sports (hockey would be my first pic) but also I'm never opposed to a rich CEO :)

message 88: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I don't think CEO would count as a profession.. It's a job, not a skill/mastery kind of thing.. like hockey or carpenter or painter for example. I could be wrong though. To be on the safer side, is it ok we go with sports like hockey or football? (Sorry, I don't know of any baseball books apart from manga which is not allowed for this challenge).

For the authors and series, do you think we should do like Shia suggested? Add it to a randomizer and just pick?

message 89: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Brittney wrote: "Yay! I'm so glad you liked it. There is a second book in that series that was good too, Drowning Erin."

Oh, I'm planning on reading that one for sure. Just need to finish Daughter of the Moon Goddess (The Celestial Kingdom Duology, #1) by Sue Lynn Tan that I've started. It's due at the library soon.

message 90: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Teigland | 386 comments I think the randomizer would work for both author and series. I think finding a hockey series right now would be the easiest. There are so many.

message 91: by Shia (new)

Shia (808bookdr) | 128 comments Sports is fine. So it’s confirmed manga isn’t allowed?

message 92: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Teigland | 386 comments Yes, MountainKat commented in the main thread

message 93: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Shia wrote: "Sports is fine. So it’s confirmed manga isn’t allowed?"

Yep, MKat confirmed Manga is not allowed. It wouldn't be fair anyway. I can go through a manga faster than a book of the same page count.

message 94: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Brittney wrote: "I think the randomizer would work for both author and series. I think finding a hockey series right now would be the easiest. There are so many."

Alright. I'm randomizing the authors and series now.

message 95: by Vi (last edited Apr 18, 2023 02:00PM) (new)

Vi | 2794 comments For the author: Jennifer L Armentrout (https://imgur.com/a/gwYUVkE)
For the series: Brooklyn Bruisers. This would work for profession - hockey also I think. (https://imgur.com/ZkJCDQX)

message 96: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Teigland | 386 comments Will we be able to use the same series for profession / series we all read or will we need another series as well? Not sure how strict they get.

message 97: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (aellen) | 976 comments That is a good question, Brittney. It may be easier to just have a backup in case it's not allowed.
