SOLVED. Fiction- Child plays with toys and knights. Somehow is transported into the world of the toys. [s]

Read this fiction book in the early 2000's I believe the book is from earlier. The character is playing with nights and toy blocks and has set up a whole world. Something causes the character to be transported into that world. Remember it has a Phantom Tollbooth type of style. May have been a part of a series. Please help it is driving me crazy
