The excerpt is brilliant! I am SO excited for Queen of Shadows!
Can we discuss how much I fangirled at this?
I can't wait to see how Celaena/Aelin reacts to Tern's...'comment'!
And the soundtrack from Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows 'Destroying the Locket' - I'm desperately hoping this is hinting that he will be freed! But then SJM said that this piece of music inspired the writing of the opening chapter (in his POV) so I'm not sure!
Yeah, he won't be freed in that chapter. Remember how in HP DH how Ron had to see his deepest fears and envious thoughts. Like the idea that Mrs. Weasley liked Harry better and Harry and Hermione kissing. I'm thinking that that's the part that the first chapter of QoS and The scene in HP have in common. SJM is definitely not going to have Dorian be free in the first chapter. That's just bad story telling.
I loved the interview with Sarah J. Maas and where she may see the series going. I am also glad that after Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns that she has other books for the future, so we can continue to enjoy her writing.
When you said excerpt, Booknut, I didn't think it would be only a few lines long. I was thinking maybe a page or two. That right there in the entry was not an excerpt—it's a freaking TEASER. And a damn good one at that.
