Rogue with a Brogue (Scandalous Highlanders, #2) by Suzanne Enoch
Rogue with a Brogue by Suzanne Enoch

Join us in reading this HR that features the theme Secret Love. Happy reading!

Synopsis:

A Rogue For Every Lady

London, 1817: Stuck in a Mayfair ballroom, thanks to his lovestruck brother, Highlander Arran MacLawry wants nothing but a bit of distraction from an arranged betrothal—and a clever auburn-haired lass in a vixen's mask promises just that . . . until he discovers that she's the granddaughter of the Campbell, chief of clan MacLawry's longtime rival. Despite their families' grudging truce, falling for fiery Mary Campbell is a notion too outlandish even for this Highlander…

The Thrill Of The Forbidden

Raised on tales of savage MacLawrys, Mary is stunned to realize the impressively strapping man in the fox's mask is one of them. Surely the enemy shouldn't have such a broad chest, and such a seductive brogue? Not that her curiosity matters—any dalliance between them is strictly forbidden, and she's promised to another. But with the crackling spark between them ready to catch flame, love is worth every risk…

Maureen | 183 comments I just borrowed this from the library and read it over the Easter break. This a Romeo and Juliet theme of forbidden love but doesn’t end in tragedy. There is a HEA. I loved it and gave it five stars.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mariana | 2692 comments Wow! I have read and enjoyed all of May's BOTM within the past two years. I will pop in and read the comments.

Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments I started reading this yesterday. I have read and enjoyed a few books by this author in the past, so thought I'd give this one a shot. (My fav so far by her has been England's Perfect Hero).

I'm 23% in, part way through Chapter 5. So far I like both Arran and Mary, and I'm liking the slow build of their (forbidden) attraction to each other. The Scottish accents are a little annoying to read at times, but the book is called A Rogue With a Brogue, so I guess he'd better have a brogue LOL. Anyway, so far so good and I'm enjoying it.

Lauren | 1370 comments I finished today. I thought this was a nice little adventure romance. The story lacks some of the humor that SE does so well. Still, I enjoyed this lighthearted romp.

I do wish there was an epilogue, which included Aunt Sarah and Uncle Sean. They were the best part of the story.

Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments I finished this today. I agree with Lauren's comment, 'a light-hearted romp'. I gave three stars. Quite a nice story, with likeable main characters. I just got a bit sick of the Scottish accents, as they were hard to read. Also (view spoiler) is not a fav trope of mine, and it ended up being a major part of the storyline.

So, not a bad read, but not a fav.
