I've just finished the book, but still, I don't know what to find about it. I wanted to read it for a long time, but my expecatations were very different. I also saw the movie with Harrison Ford before reading the book, so maybe my vision about it is a bit subjective.
Read "Call of the Wild" maybe seventy years ago as well as every Jack London book I could find. I'm thinking about going back and re-reading some of his books to see if they are as good as I remember but I'll bet they are. Mariam Cheshire, (author of "Return to Sanctuary - Plague")
I read this in high shcool in the 1950s and have a copy on a book shelf. I will have to search for it.
I have just finished reading this, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I knew nothing about it, and had no preconceptions (haven't seen the film). It's a short book, but the story is so concise, and the descriptions so evocative, that I got a real sense of place and emotion from it. Thanks to Betsy for the nomination - this is not a book I would have otherwise read :-)
