April Subdue the Shelf Roll Requests
Anita wrote: "Robin P wrote: "I have thought from the beginning that 3-1 is not the same as 1-3, 5-2 not the same as 2-5, etc. Can we get that clarified?"This has been asked and answered somewhere in the past,..."
Wow, I may have missed some that I had, oh well,
Rolls for 4/10:Joy 5
Olivermagnus 2**
Amy is going to get to move you somewhere, but I haven't heard back from her as of yet. So take this 2 first, and then we will worry about it from there.

Sounds good. Thanks.
I am on the move and away from my computer. So it’s not easy for me to get to this. But I should be able to by around 5:30 PM this evening. EST. That’s less than two hours from now.

I’m actually so excited to pick out a book for you. I’m pulling into my driveway so we are just a few minutes away.
Amy wrote: "Drum Roll!!!! Can I move her to number 77 - The Maid? I think she would enjoy that."I'm looking forward to reading it sometime, but I think you can only move me 15 spaces forward or backward. I'm currently on #54.
Thanks!
Olivermagnus is correct! (Thank you). The move must be within 15 spaces of the current position in either direction.
Yes, that would have been good to know. That was more like 25 spaces. I will come up with some thing both that I think he would like, and that hopefully moves you forward or not too far back.
OK - much smaller drum roll - more like a rat tat and a quiet cymbal ting. I looked at the range of books 15 back and ahead and I really wanted to pick a good one for our Lynda and I wasn't loving the selections and choices. I did hear that the London Seance Society was pretty awful. I really did like the debut, the Lost Apothecary, which was more mixed reviews. So ultimately I did pick the one that I thought piqued my interest and I thought would be the best read - since you are already ahead and said you wanted to read them all anyway. Its only 6 back, so not over one dice roll back. Its #48, he Librarian of Burned Books. It actually looked pretty good to me, and it has a high rating and is compared to two books that I think we both really liked. I hope you feel good about that choice OM Friend. I really wanted to pick a good one for you - and I am sorry to "diss" the ones in the 30 book range. Too bad I couldn't have found Katherine Howard in there as a complement to Katharine Parr. I can't wait to hear what you think.

Thanks!

I think you missed my request (message 161). I would like a roll please. I am still at Clerk level so 2 dice.
Pam wrote: "Thanks, Anita! That also gives me a 6-4 with my last roll for a "surprise advantage""You may move forward the number of runs scored by your favorite baseball team tonight (if you don't have a favorite, it will be the number of runs scored by my favorite. Everyone knows who that is lol (Yankees!!).
Oh that's a good one! We will definitely need to use yours, though. I have never been a baseball fan, but I did go to a Yankees game once so that seems close enough
Anita wrote: "The Yankees are already at 10 runs, and it’s not over yet lol!"Holy Cow! What a great advantage-And you know Anita that I would have picked the Yankees above the Tigers-😂
Go Yankees!!!!! So do I move 11 *instead* of reading the book I landed on with today's roll? Or *after* reading it? Or...?
Finally finished a book I've been stuck on - Dark Angels is 530 pages in hardcoverSo I am requesting a roll on the Porter board of 2 dice. Thanks!

These special advantages are often able to be used later, or when you most need them. Anita will tell you soon. If it were me, and I didn't want to wait, I'd pick the one that most excited me at that moment.
Pam wrote: "Go Yankees!!!!! So do I move 11 *instead* of reading the book I landed on with today's roll? Or *after* reading it? Or...?"
Pam, surprise advantage can be used AT ANYTIME, per the rules. You can read the book landed on, or move your self now, or save the advantage for the future. Just be sure to tell Anita what you are doing with it, and mark it on your personal score board.
Pam wrote: "Go Yankees!!!!! So do I move 11 *instead* of reading the book I landed on with today's roll? Or *after* reading it? Or...?"
Good question - - after please. So read and review the book you landed upon today. Then you may move the 11. Or you can also save the 11 to move at another time if you wish. Just please note that carefully on your tracking thread.
Joanne stated it perfectly!
Well second class and I are sticking together for awhile it seems. Although all the books on my board are books I want to read, it seems sadness is the theme here-UGH. I am currently reading The Baker's Secret, which is good, but has sadness interwoven. My new roll puts me at The Sandcastle Girls, which I started and put down 3 times already because it is so sad. I am putting my legs up and just settling in for a while.Breaking news We have become so popular another movie star has decided to join the fun. Thomas the Tank will take the lead of the train and allow the next person that enters Engineers to drive his engine! Looks like that may be KateNZ! Have fun Kate.
**Attention Porters**I just want to remind all porters that books must be read AND reviewed before requesting your next roll.
I know after Clerk it's an adjustment, but please make sure to adhere to the new work rules.

Anyone found ignoring these rules will be disciplined by CGI Tom -- no drinks, snacks, and other treats for you for at least 2 rolls, regardless of what car you are in! Plus you will be put in charge of petting Gnarly.

I just went through a really heavy reading period myself. I stayed sane by sneaking in a fun short read here and there.
