April Subdue the Shelf Roll Requests
I couldn't get a hardcover for edge of falling either. They were both paperback. Nancy - have you read the fruit of the drunken tree?
Amy wrote: "I couldn't get a hardcover for edge of falling either. They were both paperback. Nancy - have you read the fruit of the drunken tree?"No, It’s on my tbr too , and I have no idea why I didn’t read it yet. Many of my gr friends gave it 5 stars, or 4 stars. I guess new shiny titles distracted me. I want a South American book so I’m going to bump it up ( to join Gods of Tango, Exile Music).
Amy wrote: "Then why is Fruit of a Drunken Tree still on my TBR? is there anything about it that redeems the violence?"It is set in Colombia. There is an interesting dynamic between poor and wealthy, between a child and an adolescent. between mother and child. I loved it, but I like darker books than you do.
I thought I learned something about the culture.
Amy wrote: "I just went on a treasure hunt semi wild rampage in the house, and feel I must share. Three days before the quarantine in 2020, author Hank Philippi Ryan and noted local journalist and TV persona..."
Did you lend it to someone? Put away in a safe special place which of course you can't remember.
Maybe it ran away to join my still missing hardcover boxed set of Proust.
I think that’s why it landed on my TBR. Because so many people loved it and read it highly and recommended it. I think I’m gonna leave it there because you never know when it might fit a tag. I’m just not rushing out to read it. Hey, I read a lot of holocaust in World War II literature. I loved constellation of vital phenomena, and I never thought I would love a book about war torn Chechnya. I guess sometimes dark is necessary. I definitely don’t like unnecessary dark. Thank you for the feedback guys. I will keep it for a while. For all we know, we will read it together Nancy when the tag arises.
Amy wrote: "I hereby move you From your current #5 Clerk Level, to #18 - Which is the Book Thief by Marcus Zusak...."Hi Amy,
Can you try this again? HayJay has been moved a few times prior, and while she is reading the book at slot #5, she's already been moved to 29. She's just behind on the reading. So you are moving her forward OR backward from #29.
You can see her progress on the Consolidated Boards (Clerk).

Thank you, Theresa, for taking the time to explain this (perfectly).
In my defense, I honestly did not see that on her board. But yes, I will try this again. 15 forward or backward from 29. I’m thrilled to pick something out for HayJay.
Amy wrote: "Then why is Fruit of a Drunken Tree still on my TBR? is there anything about it that redeems the violence?"Yes Amy there is!! A beautiful read but you must be in the right mood for it, I gave it 4 stars although I did mention is was a difficult read.
Amy wrote: "OK - I am announcing my swap. Amazon says the Edge of Falling is 304 pages. I am switching it for Celestial Persuasion by Mirta Ines Trupp which comes in at 311 pages. The Murder List is 352 pages ..."That is fine Amy, as long as you count your next roll from where you originally moved.
Lets go with #44 for HayJay - its the farthest book I can get for her with an absolutely wonderful light enveloping read! Nora Goes Off Script!
Note on scoringI am going to do last nights rolls right after this. Worked the night shift at the book sale last night, which by the way is going fabulous-Since Tuesday we have made over $5300!!!
Last nights roll will be done now, and I took today off, for rest, from the sale-so todays role will be done in a timely manner. Tomorrow will be late, as it is the last day of the sale and $5 bag day and also clean up.
Back to normal on Sunday-and thank you for understanding

AMY- Hayjay will actually be moving from # 29, due to the other special roles-can you please correct your instructions to her so that there is no confusion on her part, when she gets back to us? Let me know where you are moving
Amy wrote: "In my defense, I honestly did not see that on her board. But yes, I will try this again. 15 forward or backward from 29. Some people do not have their personal boards updated as to where Anita has them at the moment.
Yes, her board had number five in bold. Next time I will look at the consolidated game board first instead of going straight to the individual's.Hayley - in case you didn't see it above, I am moving you to #44!!!! Nora Goes Off Script! You will love it. When you get around to it. We can't wait to see you when you are able to come back!

NP. We late nighters are there for each other.

That is fabulous, JoAnne! Be sure to let us know the final tally. So great to see the in person book sales back in business and raking in the dough.
Just chiming in to say that Hayjay likely will resurface when term over at her Business School program and not before. It may be 39 years since I left law school behind, but I vividly remember not having a second to read for pleasure during a semester. As soon as the last paper submitted and exam over, I was at the library checking out all the latest by my favorite writers.
I would literally disappear except for family and school each semester. Everyone got used to it.

She'll be so surprised by how far she's moved while she was in school. 🙂
Joanne - To catch you up, my roll of 6 yesterday took me off the Engineer 2 board, and I'm now on Space #3 The Book of Longings, on the Station Master Board.
No need to catch me, just alert Anita and I of your special moves-I think we have a handle on the day to day moves and rolling off the board
Joy D wrote: "Just a heads up: my last two rolls were 1, 3, which is a special roll."You will be moving Cheryl. Let us know what you decide!
I'm ready for another 🎲 dice roll (2) Thanks. My last book was 512 pages.

Anita wrote: "Hannah wrote: "My last two rolls were 1, 3, which I think is a special roll."Hannah, you will be moving Diana H."
I’d like to move Diana to her #15, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I read this book and really enjoyed it a couple of years ago, so hopefully she will like it too.
Anita, when I am ready I will move my roll of 7, which takes me to # 61, I am then going to take my special roll of 4-15 and move 34 spaces to # 95.

Thank you, Hannah! I've been trying to get to this book for the past two years but somehow didn't manage to do it. So finally I'll be able to read it.
Anita, as I'll read book #15 next, does it mean I'll be moved by randomizer after that?

So long Chester Wheeler is by Hyde, right? I know you liked other books by her. I checked amazon and it works. It depends on what you're in the mood for.
You could also pick another book from your current list if you want. If you passed by a book that you really want to read, this could be your chance.
EDIT - Celestial Persuasion should work even though it doesn't have a hard cover. You could send Anita a DM to double check.
