The narrator is a boy who is either in this new place for summer or a new boarding school. He goes exploring and finds this beach. He sees a shack and goes into it. He finds another boy. They end up playing a few times over the course of the book. The second boy is named Finn or Flynn. Finn/Flynn tries to keep his distance. Turns out he is actually a girl.
