I did like the book but yes, all too close to home!

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments I'm all in for this RAT! I am in a different time zone than usual (starting at 2:00 p.m. instead of 6:00 a.m.), but will still be available the full 24 hours - well, minus a bit of sleep most likely. I always have a ridiculous stack of 10 to cover all moods. And **drum roll** here it is:

Swamplandia! (in progress) (also on audio)
The Once and Future King (in progress)
The Case of the Velvet Claws (just added thanks to the Perry Mason buddy read set up by Cynda)
Dinner for Vampires: Life on a Cult TV Show (also on audio)
The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven
Hullabaloo in the Guava Orchard
Resurrection Walk (also on audio)
Small Mercies
This Strange Eventful History (also on audio)
Evergreen

I may finish Swamplandia in the next two days, in which case I'll add another book. Wishing everyone a fabulous Readathon!

Nice reading variety and nice that you're not starting at 6am this time!

Oh, what a fun variety!! Glad to hear you're coming back despite a different time zone. Starting at 2 pm sounds interesting actually

I was restricted to what was either on or available for my Kindle, but I did still manage a lot of variety. See you Saturday!

Yes! Looking forward to revisiting Perry. I have read some of them, but it's been a LONG time.

I do enjoy when I'm in Europe for a RAT. My sleep (or lack thereof) is more flexible.

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments Hours 7 - 12

The Case of the Velvet Claws - 99 pgs, finished
Swamplandia! - 21 pgs (audio)
Dinner for Vampires: Life on a Cult TV Show - 24 pgs (audio)
The Once and Future King - 9 pgs

Running total: 325 pages

I've lasted until almost 3:00 a.m., but now must sleep for a bit.

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments Hours 13 - 18

Swamplandia! - 14 pgs (audio)
Dinner for Vampires: Life on a Cult TV Show - 33 pgs (audio)

Running total: 372 pages

I slept for a couple of hours, then woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. I will be a tired girl today, but hopefully won't crash until after the RAT's end. I'm really into both my audiobooks, especially Dinner for Vampires. SO good.

3 am! Wow! My eyes grew heavy around 10.30pm, got ready for bed and tried to read some more but managed like 14 pages in 45 minutes lol so went to sleep. Hope I can catch up a bit today...

Yeah, the 3:00 a.m. thing is just because I've only been in Europe for a week and my body doesn't adjust well to time changes. When I did go to sleep, it was only for 2 hours! I feel pretty good right now and ready to tear through some pages! We'll see how long that lasts - haha.

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments Wrap-Up

I read/listened to 170 pages during Hours 19 - 24.

What I read this RAT:

The Case of the Velvet Claws - 193 pgs, finished
#1 in the Perry Mason series for the buddy read. The blast from the past was fun, but I like the Perry of the TV show (the old one) a lot more.

The Once and Future King - 28 pgs (105 to 133). My current 1001 read. It's fun.

Hullabaloo in the Guava Orchard - 95 pgs. I love Desai's writing, but the story is meh so far.

Swamplandia! - 40 pgs (audio, already in progress)
Very unique and well-written. Putting her new one on my TBR.

Dinner for Vampires: Life on a Cult TV Show - 186 pgs (audio)
Fantastic. I highly recommend the audio.

Final total, pages: 542
Final total, hours: 12 hr 20 min (5 hr 32 min reading, 6 hr 48 min audio)

I had a great readathon! I would have liked the page count a bit higher, but I listened to more audio than planned and couldn't up the speed because the readers didn't talk slow enough (that rarely happens). I enjoyed the 2:00 p.m. start time and being able to rest right in the middle. Next time, it will be back to my challenging 6:00 a.m. - at least it's not 5:00 like you PST people :)

Hope everyone had a Happy Readathon!

Thanks Ann for joining in the Perry Mason buddy read. I too prefer the old b&w Perry Mason. It was good to know what the character was based on.

Vicki Willis | 583 comments I have the same issue with my audio page count lowering my overall count. But it is such a good way to read!
See you in April
