I knew something would happen to his powers from the end of The Hourglass Throne and of course it was that ass Cornelius and one of his potions, I hate him even more now! (hide spoiler)]

The weirdest thing for me is how Eidolon is pronounced because I was way off lol I am very much enjoying the audio, the narrator does a terrific job with this series. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I really enjoyed seeing what happened to the young ones while the main action was happening in The Hourglass Throne. I did miss the snark but I understand why it wasn't there, Brand wasn't around much and the kids were in trouble most of the book.

Okay but OMG the Queenie thing at the end! What did she mean about her name being too on the nose? And Lord Fool owed her favors, which is how he was able to circumvent his vow to Lady Time? Who is she?!?!?!?!?! I don't think she is bad but yeah I need to know what is up with that. Also the references to the future Lord Fool made, so much more to come in this series, can't wait!

The Tower is alive, right? Do you think he comes back in The Misfit Caravan? I really hope so, I would prefer his absence not be drawn out over the next trilogy, that would be very disappointing for sure. (hide spoiler)]

Anyway I enjoyed this a lot, the narration was top notch, most definitely recommend :)

Yea... this was great... it didn't really feel quite like a book... more like a companion piece to Hourglass Throne... the deleted scenes they truly are... especially with the time jumps to avoid repeating chunks of the other book verbatim...

I totally get the publishing shortages causing issues... especially watching Sanderson have trouble with his Kickstarter physical books...

spoilers: (view spoiler)[I'm pretty sure Queenie is Rune's mother... that's my assumption anyway... also, I think she's the voice we hear at the end of Hourglass Throne, musing about things to come... who I also assumed was Rune's missing mother...

Quinn made a TON of good points here, tho... how she's just accepted with little info...

Also, when The Fool first showed up, I thought he was Quinn from the future... had some serious Heroes (tv show) flashbacks... save the cheerleader, save the world...

I doubt we'll see The Tower again until #7 or 8... the 2nd trilogy is very much about Rune growing into his own, without the crutch of The Tower as an ally/mentor... I compare it to Moiraine Damodred returning in Towers of Midnight in the heroes' hour of need, to face down the true Big Bad of the series...

The Tower is trapped in the time streams, and getting him back is going to be super hard... Rune & Brand are working on it, in the background tho... if he comes back in the second trilogy, I expect it to be at the very as, as the culmination of everything else that happens in the 2nd trilogy... and there'll probably be a recovery period, so we won't get much out of him until book 7+ anyway, still...

KD Edwards has talked about how Tarot Sequence is broken into 3 trilogies... revealing the secrets Rune kept from himself / the reader... revealing the secrets others kept from Rune... and The Endgame...

With the addition of the Magnus Academy books, I expect those to include some child-centric adventures, and the regaining of Quinn's seer powers... (hide spoiler)]

I almost feel like I need to do a re-read of the original trilogy, or at least the final book, to refresh myself on the context for Eidolon, but I loved it, even without that...

I was glad I re-read The Hourglass Throne recently, it made it easier to remember what Rune, Brand and Co. were up to while the kids were in danger.

Yeah, I LOVE Quinn. He was one of the reasons I fell in love with the original trilogy. I think its just the innocent feel combined with "you're my friend now" attitude. Along with the horrible way he was treated as a child by his parents... My protection instincts kick in with this kid! Loved reading the kids' POVs...

I think (view spoiler)[ The Fool maybe? or maybe Quinn hinted at big things to come with Rune and Anna's aspects, and that they're sentient... Like do the Arcana and Principalities have connection to another dimension or something? I really need to do that reread... (hide spoiler)]

The character dynamics of this series have always most closely reminded me of Hidden Legacy by Ilona Andrews...

Regarding the Tower (view spoiler)[If there is a significant delay rescuing him from the time stream will his son come back to take his spot int he arcanum? Who is the Tower's heir? I forget if I remember anyone ever saying. I can see it possibly being the culmination of the second trilogy but I hope it is sooner. (hide spoiler)]

Regarding Queenie (view spoiler)[It's possible she is Rune's mother but I don't see the Tower allowing her such close proximity to Rune. What is the purpose of hiding who she is? And as badly as he needed family after the attack, her not being there for him is not a good look for her. I wonder if she is the one who hasn't been seen in years, the former head of the Arcanum? I forget her name but I can see Lord Fool owing her the favors that would allow him to skirt the vow to Lady Time. (hide spoiler)]

Regarding Quinn (view spoiler)[He definitely lost his sight in the end of Hourglass and I think he will likely get his powers back at some point. I agree most of his family treated him horribly and he deserves a break. I have loved the character since the first introduction, when he calls Rune and is like have we met yet? (hide spoiler)]

Also, I take it you assume Queenie is Empress... she HAS to be someone connected to Rune, tho, I think... she seems to care about the family he's built... and maybe she's strong enough to fiddle with EVERYONE's memories... even Fool and Tower (without ruining Fool's binding oaths)... I mean, it sounds like she literally erased herself from Quinn's future sight entirely, too... that's alot of memory adjustment... pre-memory adjustment, actually... since she can't constantly be fiddling... Maybe the Empress had a close relationship with his father? Also I can't remember if they ever said if Queenie was hired when Rune & Brand moved out of the Tower's or was she there with them as well? I don't know, it's a mystery! lol The Tower was supposed to start telling Rune about his father more and then he got sucked into the time stream. (hide spoiler)]
