These are very good scenarios he lays out. Ironically I had the uncomfortable experience a lot of times in the past of socialization and not having anything to eat that was plant based, I started doing what you said that you also do Rachael…I brought my own food, plus enough to share.
It takes a lot more planning to not only be whole food plant-based, but also “oil free”. I just ordered a case of the Vanilla Almond bare naked “fit” breakfast granola because my kids (and they are not restricted in their diets) have been eating it up & I STILL BUY THEM THEIR OWN CUSTOMARY CEREAL. Seems the real food just tastes better and is more filling?!?
I truly am finding that if you expose people to eating this way they will genuinely enjoy and prefer it. Key is to make it easily available.

Plan ahead. Have healthy food on the ready.
Take a few moments once per week to set yourself up for success
Purchase your fresh fruits and veggies.
Wash/Peel.Slice Carrots, Cucumber, Peppers, Tomatoes, Celery, broccoli, etc to keep ready in the Fridge for a quick snack or to be part of a meal.

Ours keeps disappearing and it is not just the oil free folks in the house partaking of those fresh cut veggies!

1. You are craving fat - He reminds people that the craving will disappear in 3 months.
2. You are invited out to eat at someone's home - He recommends mentioning the diet to the host, and eating before or telling them you'd be happy to just have something early like a plain salad and bread. ( I personally offer to bring a dish of my own, and extra if the host would like. I've found that it can be a bit awkward when you don't eat anything or just have a salad/bread.)
3. You must eat out in a Restaurant - He suggests getting to know several in your area that are willing to provide food you can eat, or already have a dish that meets the criteria. If you are eating in an unfamiliar restaurant, calling ahead to explain your dietary restrictions.
4. You are traveling, either at home or abroad. - He recommends calling ahead to restaurants abroad to find places that can accommodate you. Also speaking to the airline to request a meal, or packing your own.
