Moloch | 3975 comments If a book was published in 2 almost identical editions (same ISBN, same date, same cover etc) that are just 2 different formats (hardcover and paperback), do we need to create 2 records for it (one of them as if it was an ACE)? Another solution could be click "other" in the format field and enter "Paperback/Hardcover".

Which is right? Thanks

lethe | 16359 comments Was it actually published in both hardcover and paperback? There is also a hybrid format which I don't know the term for, it looks bound but has a flexible cover. Some people might call it hardcover, some paperback; maybe that is the confusion?

If they are actually two different formats I'd say create an ACE (although strictly speaking there is no alternative cover). Just my two cents.

If there are actually two formats, there should be two editions. The format field should never have multiple formats for a single edition.
