YA about a girl obsessed with a boy. Stabs with an icepick at a play

This was a book I read possibly in the early 2000s. I believe the characters were in High School. The girl was new to the school. She was mysterious and had a diary. Often wrote about a boy she was obsessed with. I think she ended up stabbing him with an icepick in their school play? It was very weird. But i loved it and can't figure out the title. I wish i remembered their names.

I found it! Made an account just to tell you. Its called "Caught in the Act" by Peter Moore. I read it back in the early 2000s as well and have been looking for it ever since. You are like the only other person to have asked about this I could find
