Susan A | 461 comments Is there a way to edit the number of books per month in my sign up?

I'm always afraid of over-committing. I think I should increase the number.

If you post here we can do some edits.

@Susan, if you let us know what your final signup #books is we can amend for you (currently 30)

@Vicki: we learn each year that we can never over-promote the opening of sign-ups! :) glad you can join us again!

I can do 40 per month. I can most likely do more but it would stress me out to think I promised more...so I'll say 40 and switch to longer books if I'm running too fast. Does that sound okay?

I read so many things that aren't eligible that taking last year's number and dividing by 12 would not yield a reasonable estimate.

Thanks for your help.

if 40 feels reasonable for you we'll switch to 40 :)

Lindsay♫SingerOfStories♫ (lindsaysingerofstories) | 707 comments Tower Teams is always what I love to see in my inbox! I think I was moving during the last round but I'm settled now and in a better reading place now. Let's go!!! 🎉

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 612 comments I think I signed up at 50 being conserative 60 is probably closer with all the challenges I am in. Can one of the mods change it for me, please?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6414 comments Diane ~Firefly~ wrote: "Joined! Just a little concerned about the 10 600 pg books per month and hoping my teammates like chunky books."

Don't worry Diane, there are plenty of us who revel in the larger tomes.. especially for points.

Michael Thomas (mjthomas7980) | 608 comments Never done TT before, and I know the teams will be balanced but consider me intimidated… 40-60 books a month? I could only dream.

Per month? Can you confirm that you are sure you can read at that volume over the three months of the challenge, as looking at your read shelf it seems an overestimate? In March you read about 30.

message 217: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (books2hooks) | 479 comments This is my first time. I committed to 12 even though I've been reading about double that. I figured this was a good strategy since some of what I read is graphic novels. I also figured that if I read more than I said, I just wouldn't count them towards tower teams. I would just consider them reads for me or my other challenges. Is that wrong?

Nope. I do that sometimes because I tend to binge read series, and some have shorter novellas that can't be used.

message 219: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Besides, RL also happens, and sometimes we have to cover for someone and vice-versa. Nothing wrong in my book.

message 221: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments This is also my first time playing so I think I said 15 just in case stuff gets in the way but I could do some longer books if I'm beating my own estimates :)

It is so hard to guess! I'm all over the place. Sometimes 5, sometimes 12. I picked a number in the middle. :)

Skye Blue ☆*~゚ლ(´ڡ`ლ)~*☆ (surendraskye) | 19 comments I didn't know what to put for books a week.

My mother is always marking her books read on her kindle, that for some reason is set to my goodreads.

I used to read a book or more a day..but the last few months committing to more than 3-4 a week has been a challenge.
I put 13 a month Maybe I should have done more like 15-20?

message 224: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 7447 comments Mod
your estimate is fine :)

It's just an estimate. If you find yourself running well over, you can always read slightly longer books. Or it may allow you to 'cover' books for someone who might be reading under their estimate for some reason (life happens!)

message 225: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments @Mods - would it be possible to lower my books/week to 15? I think that will be less stressful for me and allow me to read longer books.

Susan A | 461 comments Cat wrote: "if 40 feels reasonable for you we'll switch to 40 :)"
I seemed to have made some waves. I can stay at 30. This is new to me so it’s probably best to be conservative

Is it possible to change my option about being a captain/ co-captain to no thank you as I think that I will be going travelling for 2 or 3 weeks during the summer now, and I might not have the best signal during that time. Sorry I should have realised it before, I just got so excited about signing up and thought it would be fun to have a role as well, but I don't think the Scottish Highlands are known for having a great signal.

I've never had any problems. Though maybe if you're camping in a remote valley somewhere..? I guess it might depend on your provider as well.

Yeah I already know that there are a few places that I am going to don't have any signal :) I just never thought about it when signing up because I have not decided when exactly we are going.

Don’t - even if you read 1 book, or less, a week, you will be an important team member - because every book, and every page counts. 😀👍

message 235: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments IMO the chat, support and friendship are the most contributions to any team. And the book recommendations :)

I felt this way at first, too. Don't worry. It's all about having fun - and balancing out the teams so it can be fun for all.

Don't worry about not reading the big numbers!

So long as you are enjoying what you are reading and chatting with your team, then we are very happy to have you on a team.

Yes! I committed myself to more books than I usually do for these challenges but that's because I wanted to try to keep up with my Goodreads goals. There will certainly be people on your team that will read way more and way fewer books than you so don't worry.
