[Answered] Librarians, help: Why is this invalid?

Hello,
Can any librarian help me understand why this is an invalid book entry? It is still available for sale on Amazon as an individual book.

I have no idea why an import bot has set this edition as invalid, nothing in the changelog that could be a reason. And on Amazon it looks indeed also perfectly normal, so I have set it back to public.

Okay, thanks so much. I too checked the changelog but couldn't find any valid reason. Marking this as done.

It's possible—though this is just conjecture!—that someone on the tech side of thing has tried to solve the issue of Amazon importing thousands upon thousands of blank diaries by getting the bots to mark some things titled 'Diary' or 'Diaries' as invalid.

Don't know that it's worth flagging for Support now, but I'd message Support if it comes up again for another diary-title book.

That does make sense. I too had noticed the glut of diaries, notebooks and even mugs on GR. But shortcut solutions are never sensible. They should rather try to fix the Amazon import bot which is messing things up badly.

I don't think so. I've come across dozens of books in the last few weeks (I'm guessing something between 20 and 30) that were perfectly normal entries but were set to invalid by the amazon bot. None of them had diary, notes or similar words in the title.

You're probably right—I've been seeing a lot of cases of the bots changing valid authors to 'Unknown.' (with a period and everything). There seem to be a lot of bot issues at the moment.

Was it a book-length fanfiction? Fanfiction short stories aren't considered valid by GR.

Thank you for your quick responses! It was a book length fiction. It is now showing on the page that it is by “deleted author” so maybe that is it then :(

(I know this is the wrong place for your request, but) It should never show "deleted author" so something must have gone wrong.
