Hello everyone, my pen name is Susanna Lynley
. By profession I am a historian of religion. My field early Christian Origins.
Thus I am an avid reader of ancient history, mythology and literature. But I am also interested in English history. I thoroughly enjoyed Hilary Mantel's trilogy of Thomas Cromwell, and also many of Alison Weir and Philippa Gregory's books and I hope to connect here with like minded readers.
So sorry Nancy, I mistook you for the moderator of the Historical fiction group. So let me start again. I love historical fiction but I also write crime novels. And I do hope by joining this group and interacting with it I might find some useful tips for my own work as well as enjoying the writing of others.Thank you.

No problem. Believe it or not, I also have a degree in Religious Studies, but my focus was on Asia (I hate to use the term Eastern). And I really love well-written historical fiction -- the Mantel books you mentioned were outstanding.
Anyway, welcome to the group. We have nice people here.

Welcome, Leelon.
Welcome, Leelon.
Hi, I'm Chrissie, originally from Germany. I live in the US for 21 years now and love this country. My favorite authors are mostly crime novelists like Douglas Kennedy, Peter Robinson, Mary Higgins Clark, Camilla Laeckberg, Stieg Larsson, Val McDermid, Nelson DeMille, Linwood Barclay etc.
I also enjoy reading (auto)biographies and non-fiction books on WW II.
I'm probably the oldest here in this group with 67 years of age. Today my husband and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. In November we'll be together for 17 years. :)
Welcome Leelon and Christine. I am in my mid 70s. I read mysteries, historical fiction and biographies. My wife and I celebrated our 52nd anniversary this spring with a family cruise in the Caribbean.

Dear all,Many thanks for welcoming me to this group! My name is Thomas Griffin, and I am a crime fiction novelist and freelance writer with a background in history. I grew up in the Finger Lakes Region in Upstate New York but spent extensive periods of time in New York City as well as Europe. For my crime fiction, I draw on my experiences living and working in both the US and Europe – in particular on my time in Frankfurt. So far, I published two crime novels: A Cold Case
and The Kreuzberg File
, and I am currently working on my third novel. In this group, I very much look forward to connecting with like-minded readers and writers. I hope to exchange ideas and thoughts, learn about other people’s work, and would also greatly appreciate any feedback.
I recently created a new website (www.thomas-griffin-crime.com) and started a newsletter! So, I welcome your subscription.
Best wishes,
Thomas
I'm both a fan of crime and mystery novels and a newly minted author of a crime novel: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...It's a high-tech thriller in the guise of a regional crime novel ala Pelecanos, Lippman and Michael Connelly. I'll let the reviews speak for it, but I'd love your views. It's currently on the kindle giveaways list. Thanks for your consideration.
Yo, I am Kang. Last year I really got into reading more. I enjoy mystery/thriller media in general not only navels. The mystery/thriller books I’ve read so far are the compound, the fallout, and a good amount of Sherlock Holmes novels/short stories. My college semester is over so I should be able to read a lot more.
Hello, I'm Amanda. I was born, raised, and reside in South Carolina. I have an emotional support dog named Charlie that I have had over a decade. He is fourteen now, and he has been my constant companion. I also have a wonderful fiancé who is my whole world. Mysteries are a fairly new passion of mine, as I enjoy reading a variety of books, and mystery fell through the cracks for me for a while. I'm looking to expand my repertoire of books and read more of them. The best way to do that, I feel, is to immerse myself with lovers of the genre!
Hi, everyone. I'm a mystery writer, and I've decided to write my own mystery trilogy series. I've finished writing the 1st book, which I'm planning to self-publish in November. Aside from that, my favorite genres are fantasy, realistic fiction, suspense and thrillers. But I've decided to write a mystery series because I love mysteries and I'm not too great at world building so writing a fantasy is too difficult for me lol.

It's out of print, but you can get it used at amazon.
Mary Higgins Clark wrote some great mysteries. My favorite is "Stillwatch", another good one is "Where are the Children?" and "Remember Me".
And then there is Isabelle Holland, Carlene Thompson (her oldest crime novels are great) and Susan Howatch who wrote a few modern gothics in the beginning, before she turned to the Church of England and wrote rather boring books.

Hello everyone! I am Jodi and I currently reside in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee. I am lucky enough to literally have a library right across the street from me, so this is just about the greatest retirement location I can think of. Mysteries and thrillers are what I pick up most often, but my degree is in History so I usually bounce back and forth between the Fiction world and the Non Fiction world depending on the mood.

I went to college on your side years ago, in Maryville.
Hello All,I'm from Thailand. My grandfather was British. My parents are both Thai. I'm in the UK just now studying history at university. My passion is to travel, but at present I'm basically penniless and for now will read my way around the world.
Hello all,I'm a student from Britain. I've never been overseas and I'm wanting to read about life at all points of the compass.
Hi to everyone.I'm a surveyor, I own a sea kayak, live within a stone's throw of the briny and luckily work in coastal surveying.
I yearn for fiction that asks me think: join-the-dots, figure what is happening, where the plot is taking me.
Hello All,I've just joined from upstate New York. Always looking for suggestions for new reads. I'm drawn to mysteries and spy thrillers. Making quick work of Slough House series, so looking for suggestions of where to go next!
Hi all, I'm Patrick, a thriller writer, English teacher and mass consumer of Michael Connelly, Robert Harris, and all good thriller writers!

I'm Dottie (not in my head).I’m trying every day to be kind to the world we live in and wish to read about those things that touch the world we live in. I don’t do paranormal, sci-fi, romance, fantasy, role-play, etc: you get the picture.
I'm not an eco-zealot. I'm not at all interested in screaming and shouting about what's wrong, whilst throwing litter all over the place and running off. A few years back, I spent the day listening to Greta Thunberg, when she left so did the crowd: a sea of litter was left behind. From that day on, I've lived a simple life: reuse, repair, recycle. I grow my own. I use solar power whenever possible. I don't buy new clothes. I don't use make-up. I cycle everywhere. I'm self-employed and work making and repairing clothes: mostly for the little ones. Take an old coat, clean it and sew a few flowers on: like magic, it's new and can be sold at the farmer's market. I don't buy new books. I use the library or buy second-hand from the market. My table is next to the bookman's and we get on like a house on fire. And just like my grandparents did, who both kept their wits and lived to a fine old-age, I don't do heating. I do an extra jumper.
