josie | 1 comments This is probably such a niche book but giving it a go anyway. I'm pretty sure I downloaded this from the Apple books store in like 2014, so a bit dated and definitely something that you’d find on KU now. Basically the plot was about this teenage girl who could time travel, but she could only travel on a loop so she would go back to the same spot in the 1860s every time. If she touched someone with her bare skin while she was time travelling they would go with her, so she always wore gloves. Her best friend was maybe called Lucinda? Anyway she always goes back to this farm house and helps out there but she’s disguising herself as a boy there. For some reason her crush from the present day ends up back with her and they pretend that he’s her brother? The farm house family also find out she’s a girl and take her in and everything’s fine there and I'm pretty sure she assists with a birth there too. Anyway, she makes friends with a runaway slave boy who turns out to be a time traveller from the 1960s because she touches him and travels with him, and then she ends up helping his sister give birth and his sister is having an illegal baby from some rich white man who got her pregnant. When she travels back she realises the illegal baby was actually her dad and she reunites with the slave boy in the present now when he’s all grown up. And she gets together with her crush. And then there is a sequel but I can’t remember what it is about.

Quotes from the book:
- I was sitting with my best friend, Lucinda, on the sidelines of the football field.
- Sometimes it was difficult separating my two crazy worlds. I so didn't feel like being here in my alternate universe, the year 1860.
- ... wanted to pass myself off as a boy. I practiced at lowering my voice: Hello, my name is Casey. ... I decided to head for the Watson farm, to see if Willie Watson would hire me again.

One Goodreads reviewer says:
- We meet Samuel in the 1860's a "runaway slave" who turns out to be a traveler like her ...
