I thought, it could be a short story of Philipp K. Dick or Harlan Ellison.
An Astronaut reaches a planet, which is inhabitable. He meets people there, lives with them. A special day happens. The people leave the village and go to a weird factory in the desert. The surface surrounding the factory is made of perfect plastic or crystal discs (hexagons?) When they enter the factory, the astronaut realizes, that the people who follow the "magical song" of the factory are transformed into those discs (to live eternally?).

I don't remember the details because I've read it a long time ago, but Stanislav Lem's Eden is about a rocket with astronauts landing on a planet and investigating a complex factory. It was published in 1959

Hello, sadly its not Eden. It has more a certain tribalistic/shamanistic vibe. I still look for it. I checked several anthologies of science-fiction, which I own.
