Faith | 2 comments a brother and sister in foster care with bad foster parents ends up getting adopted by a nice couple that wants to go on trips before they die (the woman and girl go on one trip and the man and boy go on a trip of their own separately), bad foster parents find out that there is buried treasure in the foster parents yard somewhere and they hire a bounty hunter to look for it, turns out that bounty hunter is the brother and sisters real father in the end...

Faith | 2 comments I also want to add that I'm pretty sure the book was written in the 90's or early 2000's and it is NOT a real life story.. I hope that helps a little more!

Faith, I copied book details to the topic header. Feel free to edit it.

What's the genre - e.g., for teens or adults? realistic fiction, thriller, etc.? How old are the brother and sister?

Location?

SBC's suggestion of Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech sounds like your book.

Google Books preview:
https://books.google.com/books?id=vk9... There are different cover images.

Quotes from the book:
- They had no way of knowing that there were foster parents and adopting parents who were kind and loving and generous and forgiving. In the narrow world of Dallas and Florida, an adult was someone to escape.
- "What do you think is the real story behind these old people saying they're going to take us on these trips?"
- "How come you're not going with each other on your trips?" Florida asked Sairy.
- "Well, if we do take these kids on these trips - and I'm not saying it's what we ought to do - but if we do, at least they won't be together, "he said. "How much trouble could one kid be?"
- Dallas nodded. "I'm getting a tiny little idea about buried treasure."
