Ghost of Lies (Medium Trouble, #1) by Alice Winters
Ghost of Lies by Alice Winters
415 Pages
How it qualifies: Read by Kari on 4/13/2023 and rated 4 Stars
Date Read: 5/16/2023
Rating: 3.5 Stars
Review: So this is the first book by Winters that I did not dislike. I think a lot of that had to do with Greg Boudreaux's narration which I always love, and was able to tone down some of the OTT banter. The humor still doesn't 100% mesh with mine, but I liked the story enough that I'll probably eventually continue the series.

I enjoyed this story a lot. Seth was really patient with Riley and that was sweet. So glad she wrote her mother off - she was a truly horrid woman! Nice HEA in the end. Well narrated by Elizabeth Powers.

Review:
This was a really quick read for me. I really liked the banter between Liam and Kennedy. At first, Liam wasn't so sure he wanted to take part of the task his boss assigned to him but he quickly changed his mind. Kennedy's twin sister Kira was a tad annoying and there was a surprise turn in the book that I didn't see coming. Overall, it was a cute story and I liked it.

I'm in the same boat! I leave Wednesday, but tomorrow we are Disney California Adventure with the three local grandkids! Then I have one last appointment early Tuesday and maybe some errands so hubby has food while I'm gone. Downloading audio kills data on my iPad, so I have been trying to get enough loaded to get through the first couple of weeks in June... And the rest of May too!

Review: The relationship moves from enemies to lovers very quickly. So Jack left Xav at the altar in the first book because he was secretly in love with his best friend Trent. In that first book, Trent realizes he’s bi and he ends up with Xav. In this second book, Jack gets together with Alastor, who is his enemy and Xav’s best friend. Alastor and Jack decide to hang out and become friendly. They follow these lists they made up to move out of their comfort zones. The way they behave reminds me of college kids pranking each other, but I think they’re both 37. I wasn’t a huge fan of either MC.

Review:
I love this series and this book did not disappoint. Jess is one of a bunch of siblings and he's probably always been one of my favorites. He gets an opportunity to help out an old friend, Pippa, in a pickle and he does it with flair. Now, Jess's brother Banks causes a few dramatic scenes but I absolutely loved Jess's revenge act. It's was a good laugh. I'm looking forward to continually this series.

Lassiter (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #21) by J.R. Ward Lassiter by J.R. Ward, 512 p. per GR
First published on April 11, 2023.

Completed 5.23.2023 *4++ Stars*

Not perfect because I didn't like the ending. Though I'm sure the author had her reasons... I probably won't find out about them for a couple of books though!

I enjoyed Lassiter and Rahvyn's story - I alway knew when I got to his book it would throw me for a loop and I wasn't wrong. In comparison to everything else going on, the romance seemed rather simple - it wasn't, but it seemed that way to me. It was the everything else going on that stressed me out!

And with this completion, I finish off a complete reread of this series and all the related series - the last few books were new to me though. I enjoyed it and always feel like I get more out of the series after reading it again, but I am so glad to finally move on to something new!

Review: This was the third book in the series There’s No crying in Baseball. I read and liked the first two books which dealt with different couples. This one was ok. I liked both main characters. Rhys is a famous baseball player and Henley is his neighbor and later his wife. They have a lot of chemistry but for some reason I was less invested in their romance. There are times when nothing seems to be going on and the story drags, and then too much happens at once, the MC is in a coma, there’s a mafia plot, surrogates, babies, too much all over the place just ended up being very weird.

Review: I loved absolutely EVERYTHING about this book. It was one of those books that made me want to call in sick to work to be able to keep reading. It just made me so happy the entire time, and I loved Cohen and Seth so much. It does take a while for them to actually get together, but honestly, it wasn’t annoying and it worked so well with how the two of them are I think any other way would’ve been ridiculous. And their chat conversations were so amazing that I didn’t miss them being in the same physical space at all. If you’re looking for a sweet, slow burn leading to some pretty good steam with the most loveable characters and such good pan/Demi rep, this is the book for you! Plus there’s one instant of non communication and as soon as it comes to light guess what they do? They communicate! This review is pretty ramble-y and I’m sorry about that, I just am on an endorphin high with how much I loved this book. READ IT.

Review:
I really didn't like this book that much but it was written okay. First, Blair was kinda whiney at times and she was totally overtaxing herself. Second, I don't think Wes put into school as much as he could because basketball was all her cared about. It was a college story but it just didn't keep me engaged like some of the other authors that I've read. I finished it but if I hadn't been on that airplane, I may not have.

This was thoroughly delightful! I had read it before - so before it was before GR! I didn't remember any of it and at the time didn't even realize it was part of a series...

Sebastian and Annabel were wonderful together. I could have done without the evil uncle and meddling grandparent, though the grandmother did turn around in the end. The epilogue was especially sweet.

I listened to the audio with Rosalyn Landor narrating and it was great as expected.
