Samuel Hutchison | 8 comments Like many of you, ever since Vorpatril's Alliance came out, I've been eagerly awaiting news of another Miles book. But then I started thinking about what another Miles book might look like, and now I'm not so sure. There's not much left for Miles to DO. Sure, he might have another adventure, but he sort of reached the end of his character arc in Cryoburn, as I'm sure was the author's intention. In fact, almost all of the main characters in the series have reached the end of their character development.

Except one.

After a few weeks of thinking about what the Last Vorkosigan Novel might look like, assuming we haven't already read it, I realized that the book I really WANTED to read wasn't about Miles, or Ekaterin, or Ivan. It was about Cordelia.

She's the only one of the primary characters who really has something to do, somewhere to go, dramatically. She has spent something like four decades helping Aral remake Barrayar, supporting him, and her children, but now... Aral is gone, Miles and Mark have settled down to their own domestic pursuits, but what is Cordelia going to do? I just can't see her fading into a quiet grandmother-hood on Barrayar. She's got at least three or four good decades left. Who is she going to be now that she's more or less freed from her responsibilities as wife and mother to the family Vorkosigan?

I can't say that it didn't occur to me as well that it tie things in a neat little literary bow to have the series return to where it began (at least in terms of continuity), with Cordelia creating a new identity for herself.

Sheris225 | 2 comments First I want to state unequivocally that I will eagerly gobble up all writing the authoress is motivated to write. (Including, ahem, a Chalion novel centered on the Mother and something set in the Sharing Knife world, Please?)
In the glorious and highly addicting Vorkosigan world, I too would like to spend time with Cordelia again. I would like to see the Duchess with her grandchildren.

Meliors Simms | 4 comments that is an excellent suggestion- I hope it tickles LMB's fancy!

Samuel Hutchison | 8 comments Apparently it at least tickled her attention:

Sundayscat | 1 comments I would like a novel set on Beta Colony, perhaps Cordelia trying to go back?
