My Review
I haven't decided on my next read yet.
I read The Hitchhikers by Chevy Stevens It is more of a thriller than a mystery, set in Canada. My 3.5 star review, rounded down, https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Heretic Cypher
4 STARS ARC NETGALLEY
exciting start to Murray Bailey’s Egyptian Stones, centering on Alex MacLure

Delusion in Death by J.D. Robb, book #35 of 62 (so far!) and another excellent and unusual murder mystery for Eve and the NYPD to crack.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Now starting MIDNIGHT IN EUROPE (2014) by Alan Furst, the eleventh novel in his long running "Night Soldiers" WWII spy thriller series set between 1933 - 1943.Only two books left in the series for me to track down, as Furst has not published since 2019. I can only hope that he has retired and is relaxing in Paris, where many of his plotlines intersect.
Deadly Mistake

My Review
Although not obviously in the crime & mystery genres,
Shadows of Winter Robins by Louise Wolhuter starts as the story of a child's difficult upbringing, overlaid with secrets about her mother and her family, later moving into dark and unexpected places as truths are revealed. So good!review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read King City by Lee Goldberg It is a police procedural thriller/mystery set in Washington state, US. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read Alaska Bloodlust by J.L. Askew It is book 2 in a trilogy and I have read book 1. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Now about halfway through A HERO OF FRANCE (2016) by Alan Furst, the 14th novel in his "Night Soldiers" spy thriller series set in Europe between Hitler's rise to power and the preparation for the Normandy invasion.
Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.. This is my new favorite book and Vonnegut might end up as my favorite writer as I read more from him. This powerful satire feels more timely than ever.

Now starting THE CONSTANT GARDENER (2001) by the late John Le Carre'. This is a stand alone thriller set in Nairobi with its plotline linked to the various agencies that provide food and health aid to Africa. The novel was made into a feature film back in 2005 that earned actress Rachel Weisz an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress.
The Angel Prophecy

Edge by Tracy Clark is an excellent addition to this police procedural series set in Chicago. review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
To Kill a Troubadour by Martin Walker is another very enjoyable episode in this series which melds a good mystery with history, politics and the lives and relationships of the local people.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Now about a third of the way through THE BURNING GROUNDS (2025) by Abir Mukherjee, the sixth and newest mystery in his ongoing series featuring detectives Sam Wyndham and "Surrender Not" Banerjee. The series is set in India a few years after the end of WWI.The series has been on hiatus for about three years while the author published a well received stand alone thriller novel. But I am glad that Sam and Suren are back in action.
