(view spoiler)[ Mare is less annoying than she was at the start, she's really starting to grow on me. I don't really like Cal as a possible love interest, though. I don't really know why, maybe he's too generic. But Maven I have hope for. He seems a little bit shy but kind which I think Mare needs. Plot wise it's okay. Also very generic but it's tolerable and will probably grow on me by the end of this book.(view spoiler)]

I'm listening to it on aduiobook btw. So, I'll just update by chapters because it's easier.

(view spoiler)[ First of all, how did they just leave the castle so easily. They just left. Like, where are the guards? Second of all, I don't really think Shade is dead, his 'death' felt so anticlimactic. Geisa is annoying me. Mare didn't do anything, she even tried to protect Geisa and offer herself up instead. So, it's annoying how Geisa blames Mare. Mare didn't steal anything (on that occasion) ,you did. And last but not least...Cal. Why is he even a love interest, again? I also wish that Mare would change complain a little less.(view spolier)]

(view spoiler)[ I don't really get Mare and Cal. They met once before the queen's trail or whatever it's called but they've already caught feelings for each other, even though they're both engaged to other people. Mare is engaged to his brother, like dude. ┐( ˘_˘)┌. Also, I'm annoyed by the girl hate. I feel like Evangeline is made so unnecessarily evil just for the sake of it (seeing as Mare isn't even her competition or anything, she's basically already queen), so I really hope Mare makes a strong female friendship soon . But what really pissed me off was when Mare found out Kelin or whatever ( I'm really bad at the spellings) was part of the rebels, she acted like because she kept him from starving to death he owed her his life. If my dude wants to join the rebels she shouldn't make him feel guilty about it. He isn't property, she doesn't own him .

But.... Despite these issues I'm kinda still enjoying it. At least it's somewhat entertaining. (view spoiler)]

I've got a theory on Maven.

I think he isn't really with the cause, I think he's kind of telling half lies. What does he really have to gain from the alliance. The crown. He'll probably take the crown from Cal and betray all the rebels while doing it.

The plotwist wasn't that surprising but I've really enjoyed the book. I'm also interested to see what happens in the romance department.

Also, I'm going to take a break before reading Glass sword so I can finish another aduiobook.
