I did see the movie, but it's been a while. I've heard they are quite different. But most people I've talked to really enjoy both of them, so I'm hoping I do as well. Have you seen it?

Yeah, and it creeped me out so much! Admittedly, I was only about 10, but I still feel like reading Coraline at nighttime would not be a good idea.

Haha. Yeah. I've heard the book isn't nearly so creepy as the movie though. You might not want to take a chance though. :)

I've just read the first chapter (view spoiler)[My sister's name is Carolina and people always call her Caroline, so people getting Coraline's name wrong was annoying. And her parents irk me. I get that they are busy, but really. Just pay attention to your daughter a little. And the black shapes she was dreaming about. Creepy. (hide spoiler)]

I was never able to get into any of the books by Lemony Snicket. I read the first two books, I think. I'm really enjoying this so far though. Glad you're liking it!

Chapter 5 (view spoiler)[Those other parents are creepy. And I love the cat. This isn't particularly creepy, but it's so much fun. Kind of creepy, just not a lot. It is a childrens book though. It seems faster than the movie. (hide spoiler)]

Just finished this and I loved it! (view spoiler)[I adored Coraline's character. And I loved in the end when she told the other mother that no one actually wants everything they want, not really. Very true. Life would be boring if we just got what we wanted. And when she threw the cat at the other mother. I felt bad for the cat, but he understood. And the children's souls were freed. I was sad for them when they were trapped behind the mirror. (hide spoiler)] I hope everyone else enjoys this as much as I did! :)

This was a great short read. I finished and was quite pleased. (view spoiler)[ Coraline was such a brave little girl. It took alot of courage for her to stand up to the other mother as well as the other creatures that the other mother created. I'm happy that she was reunited with her real parents. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 1- (view spoiler)[ Poor Coraline, her parents don't care about her that much, to even take some time off work.
The part when creepy singing starts, I was sitting in the dark listening (to the audiobook), When the song started, I was like 'Hell no' and turn the light on; Creepy Voices and darkness aren't a good mix. haha (hide spoiler)]

At least if her parents could not play with her her dad gave her something to do that kept her busy.

The drawings are interesting. Only black and white and I'm assuming they are done with pen. They add a little creep factor with how sharp the edges are but they are interesting and are great in this story. Adds a little visual to the book.

Sadly, I audio listen to this book so I didn't see them. :( but I thought the book would have some illustrations to make it more appealing to kids or the Middle grade age.

(view spoiler)[ Even though they (rats) warned her, she still went. I felt like it is more the evil/bad side of her family. The whole feeding dogs chocolate, could be very misleading for children in giving dogs chocolate (dangerous). I wouldn't trust people who want to change my eyes into buttons.

Yes. I have seen the movie several times with the kids I nanny and decided to read the book.
