Yes I've read them all! In my opinion his best collections are Nightshift and Skeleton Crew, both have excellent stories
I only have full dark no stars atm, also im new to good reads so il welcome any freind requests and like to have a good chat about stephen king books as iv only recently got into readin and would like to learn mor about his work and books
Full Dark, No Stars is fantastic. One of his best, if darkest, story collections. I highly recommend it.
José wrote: "Yes I've read them all! In my opinion his best collections are Nightshift and Skeleton Crew, both have excellent stories"I would agree - both of these are excellent, especially Night Shift.
Nightshift is excellent. Some of those stories are some of his earliest work but it doesn't feel that dated.
I found Duma Key to be brilliant, gripping right to the end, so I'd say give that a go, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. As for his short stories, I've only got the Just After Sunset collection, however there's some greats in there.
P.S. I hope this posts ok, I'm new to Goodreads and still figuring it all out/ getting myself sorted.
I am currently reading IT. I really enjoyed full dark, no stars. I have been meaning to get around and read Everything's Eventual.
I haven't read any of these books but I own all of them. I just have a long reading list. I have read The Shining and Needful Things. I really enjoyed both. I recommend both of those. I have yet to read any of his newer work.
I love most of King's short stories, but I do have a soft spot for Night Shift and Skeleton Crew. The Raft is one of my top five short stories of all time. So creepy! As for what to read next, I'm going to begin re-reading all of King's work starting with Carrie next week on my vacation. Happy Friday the 13th everyone!
Does it have to be a King novel? If not, I'd recommend Kill Whitey. It's a Brian Keene book but unlike anything he's ever written. It's technically listed as a horror but it feels like something else. A Horror-Mystery I think
Miriam wrote: "I just finished Duma Key. It was very good."Duma Key is one of my favorites. There are so many phrases he used in that book that have become part of my vocabulary.
Miriam wrote: "What are some of the phrases?"This is from my review: "Some of the phrases King uses in his books, this one in particular, become touchpoints with me. I get the willies and think "Libbett's frog wiff teef". I hear something debatable and think "Maybe si. Maybe no." I see a bad result of something done with good intentions and think "Roses from shells." It's such an amazing ability King has to write a turn of phrase that lives with me so long after I've finished reading. These sayings come to mind on their own. I don't think them, and immediately think Duma, I just think them. They have become a part of my mental repertoire."
I loved the way in Duma Key how Wireman always called Edgar "muchacho". I pictured in my mind the late great actor and singer Hoyt Axton playing his role in a movie version. Is that weird or way off? Who did you picture playing Wireman's character?

E. wrote: "Do the day, and let the day do you...that's what Wireman says."Yes, this is my favorite phrase from the book, but the ones Kandice mentioned are memorable as well.
MiZzy wrote: "Duma key is amazing so is bag of bones highly recommend them as your next read."Agree; loved them both!
When I started reading Duma Key I was looking at Wireman to do something sinister. I expected it but he turned out to be a nice guy. I don't know know which actor I would choose to play him. In my mind I pictured someone I made up.
What actor did you picture playing as Edgar Freemantle's character? Late 80s Roddy Piper less the mullet.
Back in the long-ago day: Walter Matthau as Wireman... today Mandy Potemkin very much revised from his role in Homeland.
im halfway through duma duma key now. It took me a while to get into it think its because im not an arty peson lol iv found the plot to pick up when wireman was introduced. What a character he is turning out to be!!
I got a good haul of king books yesterday, I got dreamcatcher, tommynockers, the bachman books, hearts in atlantis and the dark half any of these stand out to you guys?
I was blown away by Hearts in Atlantis. But I understand it divides opinion a bit. Its not horror by any means.
Kev wrote: "I was blown away by Hearts in Atlantis. But I understand it divides opinion a bit. Its not horror by any means."Agree with Kev; HIA is amazing. I think SK writes the coming-of-age story better than anything else.

I don't want to suggest something you would need to buy, but some of my favorites are The Long Walk, Lisey's Story and Duma Key.If you don't mind reading a screenplay, I can't think of a better one than Storm of the Century: An Original Screenplay.
John, with your profile private, I can't see your book shelf lists. What you like, what you've read, etc. We as a group pretty much like most all King books. There's like a zillion of them, so personally I would read a couple of the older ones, then a newer one, then back to some older ones. Read 'em all. Some you'll like... some you'll love. =}
I have these books here now and in my line up to read or reread. Doctor Sleep never read, figured I would read next since I'm reading The Shining. I have Thinner. Never read but loved movie. Mr. Mercedes. Haven't read yet and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. A reread.
I'm going to buy It and Misery next as rereads.
I never thought back then I would like the Dark Tower series. I need to look back into them. Does anyone have any good info or feedback on those ?
