Van Sciver captured Jack with the intention of torturing him to learn Evan’s location but he thwarted that plan by jumping from the plane. Now Evan is on a mission to kill Van Sciver and whomever was directing him. Did they include this in their calculus before deciding to kill Jack?

I think they had a pretty good idea that Jack wouldn't give up Evan's location. They might have thought Evan would try to save him and they could capture him at that point. When Jack jumped out of the plane, it changed everything. Evan knew Jack was dead and was primed to kill Van Sciver and whoever was directing him.

I thought they could use Jack as bait because they knew the special bond between Jack and Evan. They could not possibly have known that Jack would jump.

It never dawned on Van Sciver and crew that he would jump out of plane. I believe they planned on Jack enduring their torture until he gave up the information they wanted. They relished the thought of torturing Jack then Evan.
