It's time for our Spring Seasonal Challenge!

We are switching things up again this season! You will be given a set of words and phrases, and you must match books to these phrases in one of three ways.

When: March 1-May 31, 2023

The Phrases:
1. springtime
2. bloom
3. sun shining
4. baby animals
5. eggs
6. tulips
7. jellybeans
8. rainstorm
9. sprout
10. warming
11. spring break
12. raincoat

How to Fill the Prompts:
1. Phrase contains BOTH letters of the author's name (ignore middle initial)
2. Phrase contains the first letter of the title (ignore or include A, An, and The)
3. Phrase is exemplified on the cover (your interpretation)

Example:
Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne

Using the author's initials it could be used for phrase 4, 8, or 10. Using the first letter of the title you could apply it to phrase 10. Based on the cover, you could use it for phrase 1, 2, 3, or 4. Or even phrase 10 if you want to consider it 'heart warming'. Creativity is encouraged!

Irene (irene5) | 925 comments Is this the same as last year's spring challenge? (not complaining, the words just seem really familiar)

I think it was actually 2 years ago, but you are right that these were used in the past - new mom Emily kept it simple.

Thanks Robin! I had checked last year's and it was different so it was driving me crazy that I couldn't remember where I recognized the words from xD

edit: sorry if it came across as a complaint, I truly didn't mean it that way and wasn't trying to ask for an explanation!

Not a problem, I had the same reaction when I first saw it. The funny thing is I remember a couple of specific books I used for this challenge, and I knew they were longer ago than last year. If only I could remember "important" details in my life as well, like passwords, people's names, where I parked my car . . .

So true, I'm like that sometimes with random quotes from books! xD

LeahS | 1482 comments I've just noticed that the spreadsheet has no further room on it for additions. I don't want to alter it myself, so is it possible for it to be amended? Thanks.

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11300 comments Mod
Sorry about that LeahS. I've added more columns!

Mahi, you're not required to start a new thread for your planning and tracking. Some people choose to use the community spreadsheet or another option that works for them.

Mary | 124 comments I want to participate but just wanted to make sure is this one like the winter challenge and there is no prize? (Asking because I am already doing 3 year long challenges and not sure if I can add another but I probably will lol)

That's correct. There are no prizes except bragging rights for our seasonal challenges, yearly challenge or Readathon. We don't even announce "winners".
