Welcome to the group. I loved reading The Count of Monte Cristo too. It was undoubtedly one of Dumas' best works. I think, if I had to classify it, I would say that it is a thriller with elements of action/adventure.
The Count of Monte Cristo - hmmm. I'd say much more of an adventure/revenge story than thriller, but it is definitely a classic. It's also my daughter's favorite book.

Welcome to our group, Dustin!
Happy to be a new GoodReads member and to have joined such a vibrant group focused on a few of my favorite things. I would say I mostly come down on the Thriller side of the three, with fave authors such as Baldacci, Nelson DeMille, Lee Child, etc.
I'll start a discuss as part of my first intro: one of my favorite books of all time is the Count of Monte Cristo. I think my love for the book is in part because I would classify it as a Thriller, in so much as a person outside of power attempts to take on the powerful. Yet, it could easily be said that - as a revenge plot - it is more of an action / adventure, since by the time The Count is "The Count", he has power, money, and ability to take the fight to the persons who imprisoned him.
So which is it? Thriller or A/A? I argue thriller ...
