I enjoyed romance for a short period of time when I was younger, then went through many years where I just didn't like it at all and avoided it. Over the past few years I've started to dip in again and I find myself really enjoying the contemporary romances. I enjoy the romcom feel to them. Sometimes I get frustrated by the miscommunication (or lack of communication) or the repetitiveness of a main character's thoughts, but I generally enjoy the lightness and happy endings. I think I was reading too many really heavy books for a long time, so I really enjoy the change of pace.

I started this one today and was surprised about the "seriousness" of it so far. I wasn't expecting that.
Of course I have heard of face blindness, but just as a general thing, not the clinical side to it. I keep trying to imagine what it would look like, feel like etc.

(view spoiler)[ I am surprised at how estranged she is from her father. You'd think he would be very caring to her. His response to her from the airport was something. Maybe it is that 'instense surgeon, doctor" attitude. Or maybe it is too painful for him since his wife died.

I feel like the mean stepmother, maybe isn't going to be so mean and perhaps become an ally.

I didn't like how she wrote the step sister. I feel like by adulthood she would have grown up a bit and had a little more humanity, especially in light of the medical situation.

Thank GOD she recognized Peanut. That might have been a deal breaker for me.

As far as the wine man, the elevator man and the vet man. Are they the same man? I don't see how vet man and elevator man could be the same. How do you ride in an elevator with someone and not realize you aren't alone. In such a small space, I think you would sense someone. I don't think they are the same man, but I don't think they are 3 different men. I haven't figured that part out yet.

This one is a little deeper than I was expected, but I am enjoying it so far.

I enjoyed it. It was a good summer read for me. It had a good amount (not too much) romance and some humor with a small side of seriousness.

(view spoiler)[ I knew there was something up with the "3" guys, but I didn't think all 3 were the same guy til much later. I love the character of Joe. I do wonder though how he never mentioned that he was a vet for employment. Usually people's employment comes up pretty early when getting to know someone.

I like that the stepmother wasn't as bad as she seemed at the beginning, but it is too bad, it was so late in life.
I didn't like the entire Parker thread. I don't like how hideous she was and continued to be. I wasn't satisfied with her arc and ending either.

I was happy she could "see" Peanut and that he never died during the story, even though we all know dogs don't live forever.

Everyone put so many excellent thoughts in the spoilers through this one. It was a really fun read for that reason as well! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I agree about the Parker thread. She was too over the top and didn't have any growth, so it made her feel very 2 dimensional and unnecessary. I think there could have been a much better way to include. I felt like the whole bit with art show was a little too coincidental and planned as well.

I thought the same thing about Peanut! I'm sure he doesn't have long, but at least we didn't have to witness it! (hide spoiler)]
