Have you been reading Kristin's books since day one? Or was it the magic of The Nightingale that drew you in? Tell us what got you hooked!

I got hooked when I was on vacation several years ago, staying with my cousin. I had the book I was reading in the guest room. She put that book aside, and handed me, Firefly Lane. She said, "you have got to read this it is really good," She was right. After reading and really enjoying Firefly Lane, I read several other Kristin Hannah books. Now, I just wait for the next new release. I have become a fan, for sure.
The Nightingale was my first Kristin Hannah book and I loved it. As soon as I finished reading it I bought Winter Garden which was wonderful as well!
Firefly Lane is the first one I read, and it got me hooked. The Nightingale is my favorite. Want to read Winter Garden next.
My first Kristin Hannah book was "The Things We Do for Love". After that, I read all her earlier books and was definitely hooked to read all her books when published.
My first KH book was Firefly Lane. I was hooked! I love her books! I am almost finished with Nightingale now! all I can say is wow! I have cried so many times. I went to bed last night repeating the words of Vianne, "what kind of a benevolent God would let this happen?"
I started reading Kristin Hannah a few years ago, when my friend recommend I read Winter Garden. It became my all-time favorite book until I read the Nightingale! I love all of her books, but also at the top of my list is Night Road. I think one of the things I love most about Hannah's books is that they are unpredictable!
I started reading her books after a visit to Russia and a friend recommended Winter Garden. Have read many of her books now and am a complete fan!
My book group read "Home Front". None of us had read any of her books previously. We loved "Home Front". We live in a military community so this book hit us all. We had a LOT of discussion from this book.
I have read all of Kristin Hannah's books, and I have loved them all, but I cannot remember which was first.
Embarrassed to say that Nightingale is the first book by Kristen Hannah that I've read. But it will definitely not be the last as I have a list to start working on. So far, I've added Home Again to ones I've read. Nightingale is one of the best books I've ever read. I loved the story, the characters, the setting...everything about it. IStarted reading it during my hair appointment mid morning and I finished it about 3am. I was annoyed to stop to make dinner and went back to it as soon as possible. I was sad for the story to end.
Nightingale was the first of hers I have read. I am so looking forward to reading more of her work! Must read more, must read more!
I would say that Firefly Lane is the clear winner! I hear a lot about that book. It introduced so many readers to my work. I'm thinking that The Nightingale will do the same thing. Thanks, everyone!
Firefly Lane was my very first read...I absolutely loved it & have re-read it so many times! a girl I've been really close friends with since high school kept recommending Firefly Lane to me & we've been hooked on Kristin Hannah's books ever since then :)

Winter Garden was the first. I haven't started The Nightingale yet but it's next on my nightstand. Her research was so fantastically done for Winter Garden that I have high hopes that The Nightingale is just as wonderful! Ultimately, I was hooked for so many reasons that I had to keep reading and have now read just about all of her books. There are a few from the early years that are now out of print that I can't get my greedy mits on but not many.
The Good Father when it first came out. Loved it & started reading all of her books I could find. I have read almost all of them. Haven't got Nightingale yet, but I will very soon. Love them all!!
I'm so embarrassed.....The Good Father is by Diane Chamberlain, (another favorite of mine) It came to me while I was trying to go to sleep last night..lol. My first KRISTIN book was Firefly Lane. The rest of my post was correct....read almost all of Kristin's books, even found Waiting for the Moon on the internet.
A coworker told me to read Firefly Lane and I got hooked on her books, however after reading Summer Island, I realized I had read that before...but have no idea when. Firefly Lane will always be one of my top books.
My first book was True Colors. I absolutely loved it! I have read all of Kristin Hannah's books and my favorites are, in no particular order: True Colors, Firefly Lane, Night Road and the Nightingale.
I "found" Kristin by "accident" while browsing the book/DVD section of Costco years ago. I spotted a book called "On Mystic Lake" that had an absolutely beautiful cover in hues of blue and white. I know they always say "Don't judge a book by its cover" but in this case it was really true. I read the synopsis and bought it immediately, took it home and devoured it as quickly as possible. I can honestly say that it was the first book I've ever hated to finish and when I came to the last line I felt like I had lost a friend. I wanted to open the book again and read it from the beginning a second time. I became curious about her other books and went to the library to check out a few. Since then I've anticipated each and every one and have had the pleasure of meeting Kristin several times at her book signings.
I read True Colors and really liked it. Then I read Firefly Lane and was totally hooked. Since then I have gone back and read all of her books and The Nightingale is my favorite. I just love the historical content, it feels like I am right there with the characters. I want to use it for a book club discussion.
Firefly Lane hooked me - it was about my life - my friends - my music - and it was so beautifully written! The most amazing thing followed - I read more of Kristin Hannah's books and they are all amazing - so I am now just starting The Nightingale - I am a 4th grade teacher so I can only get a few pages in each day! :)
I'm not sure but I know Winter Garden was my fave of hers until Nightingale but now as I read them all starting with samples I'll see which I've read in years past before I was keeping track. I know I started firefly lane and bought that and fly away on strong recommendation from my friend who loved them but the first couple pages didn't grab me n I read others first. Now that thru winter Garden and Nightingale I know what Ms Hannah is capable of im gong to go back and read those first. I have already grabbed a couple others oft mentioned on this thread last night that didn't sound familiar. It's times like this I wish I had not passed on all my paper books for others to enjoy but I did. Every so often I'll be a chapter or two in n realize I read this book 20 years ago so we'll see which ones I've already read lol I know I'll never forget WG or NG. Talk about powerful reads. I still haven't really reviewed NG beyond 5 stars and saying "review to come as I just finished reading this and im wrecked!" Im afraid i just can't do it justice but it's very possible it'll be my top 2015 fave.
And those who know me know 5 stars are not unheard of but not a weekly or even monthly occurrence from me. 4 stars is a pretty big compliment from me. So the 5 stars alone while far from the first for this book will tell my friends how highly I thought of the book!!
I meant to add that just bc the first two or so pages didn't grab me right then means nothing as I may have just been in the mood for a different genre or a book different from what I assumed FL was. Also that some of my top faves incl another book that takes place during ww2, the storyteller by picoult, had less than exciting first chapters that turned out to be necessary later in the story. Just felt it sounded s bit insulting wo explaining that.
Firefly Lane! Loved it and have read all but Home Front. Winter Garden gave me chills. Wonderful reading and writing! But Nightingale truly extraordinary hits the heart.
I found her by accident too while browsing at the bookstore. Read True Colors and On Mystic Lake and Firefly Lane. I thought she wrote a book about a father and his daughters who were sailors but can't remember the name.
I started with Firefly Lane too! My Aunt recommended it to me and I read it so fast I ran right out and bought ' True Colors' and ' Winter Garden'. I simply can't get enough of Kristen's great work!
On Mystic Lake, although actually I listened to it as I mowed the lawn. Then I listened to Firefly Lane. Imagine, my practically sobbing as I drove the lawn mower around the pasture. Not a pretty sight.
The Nightingale. I could hardly put it down and look forward to meeting her at the Kaua'i Writer's Conference the first weekend in May!
The first book I ever read was Home Again. Since then, Winter Garden & The Nightengale are the ones that I can't get out of my mind. They're absolutely excellent & something haunts me about their stories.
